K3 05 E55 sold, 09 GL550
Any one tested your V1 with CHP
I took my GL550 to Ca last week for vacation (6 days) with my V1 on A mode or L mode all time but my V1 can't catch CHP signal at all when everytime I see them on freeway pull people over or they sit under the bridge . I don't know what kind of the system , speeder gun are they (CHP ) using ? So any of you know please share your thought .
But down here in NM my V1 work pretty good unless cops turn their system to HIDE mode .

My V1 has worked fine w/CHP. They have to actually be shooting a beam/radar though. I usually pass them when they are entering something on their laptops or just watching. I've had plenty of alerts that were valid so I know it's picking up whatever they're using in my area.

Many are using ladar/laser which is an on/off device that is not continuous. Once you pick up one of these, odds are high your caught. Picks up KA band fine.
Know the common speed traps, and use your mirrors diligently. Know where you can play and where you should bite your teeth and let the Mustang roll by so they can get caught instead.
They are notorious for hiding in shadows under freeways,etc.

Mine is working fine with the CHP in the OC- the other day I was driving up the 5 coming from Dana Point and my V1 goes off with a rear warning. It stayed on the whole time and I reduced to 65 mph... low and behold its a CHP with his radar on just cruising- whew. He passed me and went off to the 405.
On the toll road I was blazing into blind curve (big long bend) and the V1 went off, reduce speed and there he was just waiting at the end. No ticket.

Might not be radar or laser at all, could be aircraft timing. I'm not sure about Cali, but aircraft timed speed is getting big here in Illinois, they have those damn stripes painted on ALL the roads these days.

if you're having a problem with your V1, go try to find one of those stationary radar machines that gives you your speed and tells you to slow down. if your V1 doesn't give off the K band for that, then there's something wrong. that happened to mine and I sent it back to them and they said it just needed to be re-calibrated and they did it gratis. now, it's working fine.

I've never owned a V1, my brother in law has one in his e39 M5 and to be honest I'm not all that crazy about it... It's always going off repeatedly around the city and it wither doesn't have a automute function, or he hasn't enabled it... I have the Passport 8500 (old school but a strong performer) and lately I've been picking up less KA, but occasionally and getting hit with laser more often... Usually when I drive from N. Cali to Vancouver BC (couple times a year) the passport saves me repeatedly with the KA band... That seems to be the most popular band on 5...

Sometimes it's not a radar that gets you ............. how about passing an undercover DEA on the 101 in an unmarked (one of those impounded POS) car and pulling on him. His car shut down at 125, mine just started to stretch it's legs
. That stunt earned yours truly a reckless. Sometimes you just can't win .......
