Differential service questions - fluid
Did a search but couldn't find what I was looking for. I figure I may as well service the differential in my 04 E55. What fluid weight/type/brand is recommended, and how much will I need? I know I could go to the dealer and get whatever they have, but what are you guys and gals using?

Here's the general specs of oil and capacity of the diff. There is a whole list of fluids that Mercedes says meets the specs. Stick with the name brands like Mobile-1 and you'll be fine:

Open diff MB's I recommend Motul Gearbox 80w-90(interchangeable with 85w-90).
Code 471/P30 OEM LSD's I recommend Motul Gear FF Comp 75w-140.

Thank you gentlemen, that was exactly what I needed! Where's a good retail place to pick up Motul? Do any of the big auto parts stores carry it?
