1.9sec and better 60' times?? Track and street? PLease share
Went out to e-town on Sunday and my best 60' was a 2.1. I did a powerbrake to 1500 traction off. I know 1.9 and better is def possible.
Also I'm having issues launching this car on the street, i either spin too much or bog.. I never leave properly, I figured autmatic might of made things easier, but its actually a bit more tricky than a 6-speed to launch... my setup on the street is 1200 rpm powerbrake traction on....
Please share your launch techniques on and off the track...thanks....

Don't even power brake...I just roll into it from basically idle...I've pulled some 1.8's on good nights...If you ran on those 20's, I have doubts those super low pro tires will hook off a powerbrake anyways...They could be the issue You're right 1.7 to 1.9 is a pretty average 60' in these either 63 or 55...

Try air down the rear tires to 28psi
Leave the transmission in D
Suspension in Comfort
and don't even bother to power brake, just roll into the gas on the third yellow

+1 this seams to be the most effective way of launching the 55k torque monsters. Roll into the gas pedal (not too fast) but in an increasingly fast motion. It is very hard to get the perfect roll but not impossible, and that's why guys like Ahmad, Alan, Mikey, etc.... amaze the rest of us: they get it perfect every time

thanks im not on the 20s,im on the 19" cls 55 rims...... so the roll should be done with traction on or off???

Uhhhh, they used drag-radials and slicks........those are a lot different than street tires. With those you can go nut with power braking and building boost on the torque converter

actually, i perfected that launch on street tires before going to drag radials. my street tire launch was on 19" toyos with extremely consistent 1.71 60ft times.

tire pressure around 32-36psi, esp off just to burn tires for 2-3 seconds or enough to see the tires start to smoke in 1st gear (do not go through water box). put trans in sport, suspension in comfort, launch off idle without bringing up rpms by quickly mashing (not quite a stomp) the gas as you let off the brake.
i typically have decent track prep but even on a totally unprepped track i was able to obtain low 1.8's with this method.

This is not entirely correct info, from what I have seen E 55's perform better 60ft times with just mashing the pedal and no brake torque and the E 63's seem to get better 60ft with a brake torque of about 1900. I can brake torque my stock Corsas up to 2200 and lay down consistant 1.7-1.8 60's, my car needs a very slight bit of wheelspin otherwise it bogs the motor down, that being said the line between too much and just enough wheel spin is a very fine line. Obviously my car is not an E class, different rear-end and trans and gearing so its a moot point.

1.70 was my best on 20" street tires w/ boat anchor wheels (pictured), on the SL600.
I also pulled a 1.79 on 18" all-season tires , on stock wheels, which is more impressive if you ask me.

As others have said do not power brake. Just roll into the throttle off idle. Suspension in Comfort mode. ESP on or off will make no difference if you launch these cars correctly. I have been able to cut high 1.7's on street tires at e-town this way. Did you do a burnout?

Ive done 9 runs on 3 different nights since Ive had it.
6 of those under 1.98s and my best of 1.86.
1 at 2..08s
2 botched completely, different nights at least
Street tires on the rear I varied between 26-28psi.
275/35/18
1 Riken something
1 BF Goodrich KDW2
DA's each night were always under 200
I always run sport auto, sport 1 suspension
And always get the tires hot, masking tape helps keep the bumpers clean
I always use a heavy brake and then gas it until I feel the brake rotors start to slip and hold it there until I see that last yellow. Couldnt tell you what RPM, I just have to feel that point.
