Thumbs up E55 Build Update

I got confirmation yesterday from my dealer that my E55 will be shipped between the 20th and the end of this Month! Should get to me by the end of May!

Whats up Dave, is it possible that your vehicle is being "built" and not "shipped" in the third decade of April, which would be between the 20th and the 30th?

Well, I was told that it would be completed and ready for shipment in the 3rd decade. 04/D3/03. I assume this means it comes off of the line sometime in that 10 day (aka decade) period. Correct? Anyone know how long it takes to build one?

Haha, thanks. Yeah, Keil has been excellent. I contacted him a while back and at that point it looked like the only slot I could get from him was for a September build. My current lease runs out in June so that wouldn't work. (I'd go nuts if I had to drive a rental for 2+ months) But when one opened up he contacted me immediately and now I can almost smell the rubber! Btw, I'm in Cincinnati OH, right now we're figuring out how the car is getting to its new home.

Fly out and drive it back! It's an *awesome* way to get the car broken in so you can enjoy it faster! I did just that when I bought an '00 M5 from BMW of Nashville. I picked it up at around 11 AM and was home by midnight that night with the car at 1200 mi or so. SO much better than trying to break it in over a month's time...

Dave Oh, it takes approx 12-16 hours after paint to build "normal" vehicles, AMG vehicles are probably longer due to the specialty aspect probably alot more hand assembly, although I understand that they are built on the regular E class assembly line now.
