E55 to E63 Steering wheel conversion
Hey guys,
I have been trying to convert my W211 E55 steering wheel to a W211 E63 steering wheel.
From what I have seen the airbags wont swap from steering wheel to steering wheel. Has anyone ever done this or does anyone have any insite they can share with me on this mod.

The wiring harnesses aren't the same from what I recollect... Many of us have just swapped paddles on 55k wheels and are more than happy.

I have an 04 E55 and have been wondering doing the E63 Steering Wheel swap. I also have been wondering if this will be a simple plug and play deal or it is not as easy as it might seem? I guess the problem relies on the older pre '06 E55 models having different electronics? I know the airbags have to be from the E63...

The airbag on a E63 wheel is different and you will have to replace that also.
if your E55 is a 2005 build date then E63 steering is a straight swap. I know, ive done it

From what I've read around here, your best bet is to have an upolstery shop just add on to your steering wheel (this way you get to pick EXACTLY how you want it done and with what materials) and then have the shift paddles installed. Good luck and post pics.
P.S- Normally the upholstery work shouldn't cost more than around $300. That's what people on here were getting it done for.
