Has the fluid and filter ever been changed? Also there is a o-ring around a electrical connection that tends leak and can cause problems.

I never underestimate the power of the battery disconnect for a few mins or the sneaky ECU (which is really tcu) reset.
Worth a try before you start spending cash.
Make sure you turn steering wheel end to end a couple times (with car running in park) after battery is connecting again to reset ESP or you will throw lights.
