My 1st track visit with the E55

Here are my numbers from my first dragstrip session in the E55. Tell me what you guys think. The car is stock except for the cm30, res delete and k&n drop ins. The 1st and 3rd runs were solo. The 2nd run was vs a heavily modified Camaro. He pulled me by 3/4s of a car in the 1st 60 ft and held that all the way thru the trap. All in all I was satisfied. The transmission didn't really perform the way I expected. The shifts were slow and I felt a pretty good lag in power between shifts, especially from 1st to 2nd gear. I'm sure that cost me a little time.

1st run
RT-.7783
60 ft-1.8275
1/8 ET-8.088
1/8 trap-87.96

2nd run
RT-.2587
60 ft-1.801
1/8 ET-8.040
1/8 trap-88.29

3rd run
RT-.6294
60 ft-1.806
1/8- ET-8.065
1/8 trap-87.57

Most likely the tranny was setup in granny setting. It happens normally by just day to day driving in traffic. Car is always checking your driving habits and adjusting the car.

Should have tried a Sneaky ECU reset. It basically clears tranny adaptations and sets back to stock.

Just do a search for it. Never cures the "slush-itis" our trannys suffer from but it helps a bit.

I actually did the reset before my first run. I definitely noticed the difference but it wasn't quite as night and day as the resets in my CLS63.

Very consistent runs, and good 60' times on street tires.

Thanks. I was very happy with how consistent the car ran. I'm going to invest in a set of DRs soon. My tune will be done and pulley installed this week. Question. Is an upgraded HE a must have with the tune and pulley or will the cm30 be adequate to keep the car cool?

imho, if you're just worrying about 1/8mile runs and the once in a while street pull, you'll be fine with just the upgraded pump. i've seen many e55's here in az during the summer hotlap consistently good et's at the track as long as their pump is working properly.

Thanks for the input. I live relatively close to two 1/8 mile tracks so that's where I'll be doing the majority of my runs. I pick and choose my street runs very carefully, to say the least.
I'll try to run without a new HE for the rest of the summer season. If need be, I'll upgrade my HE in the spring.
