Biggest drag radial on OEM wheels?

I've search the forum, and I've read 275s, 285s 305s, etc. I've heard Nittos fit smaller than most tires, but I've also heard to not go bigger than a 275 on the stock 18" rear wheels. What would be the biggest tire I could fit out back?

'04 E55, lower on stock wheels(bent a 20"er).

I'm am wanting the Nitto NT 555Rs, as this will be a daily driver.

For ****s and giggles, what is the typical tread life? I know it's based upon how you drive the car, so I will say mine Continentals lasted 7k miles, maybe?

Thanks in advance!

haters crazy
You definitely wont get good treadwear with a drag radial but if you want the most grip (using on the street) I would run Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial 265/40/18.

PS- drag radials aren't good in the rain and dangerous when you hit standing patches of water

I've heard the NT555Rs are decent all weather tires, and grip better than the Invos.

You should really look into the new nt o5rs. they are the newer version of the 555s. I used to run the 555s, we really good, but wore very quicky. I spoke with Nitto, told them what I wanted and they said the 05rs were it, so i got them. They are great grip, street and strip, and wear is way better than the 555s. They are very scary in the rain but the traction control takes car of that, and they say you shouldn't run under 50 degrees. Once they are warm you have more grip than you could imagine. BTW I run them everyday since I've had the car.

Thanks for the response! I'll check into them. Were the 555Rs better in the rain than the o5Rs?

being able to drive a bit in the rain without it being scary would be worth the loss of tread life.

Thanks again!
