09 E63 ///AMG
09 E63 question.
Hello All,
I’m seriously considering purchasing an ’09 E63, 10k miles, black on black, P2, parktronic, pano roof, trunk closer & side window blinds. Any opinions on this model good, bad or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.
This will be my first AMG, not my first benz, currently driving an 07 E550 4matic with only 5K miles on it. As mentioned any info would be valued.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

No different than the 2007-2008. The 2009 does have the current upgraded COMAND, VC, and navigation system. Any bugs in the 2007s were fixed by 2009. But the 63s are still fairly young to truly know how they'll do over the long run (beyond 75k, etc..) But as long as the particular sample you're looking at has been treated well, you should be fine.

I'm about to pull the trigger on an '07 and need to know!

But most of the cars will (or should have) those issues dealt with by now under the TSBs that were out for the cars. You can check the car's VMI through the dealer. If you're buying a CPO car, the dealer will (should) address anything outstanding.
Aside from that, I don't know of anything fundamentally wrong with the 2007s.

Buy it....
The 211 E63 is a great car. On the whole, very reliable, great fun to drive. I wish I had kept mine. Only real negative is depreciation, of which some has already taken place here. Drive it and worry about the $$ later.

Just so you know, my dealer offered me $58k for mine last month as an outright buy (no trade-in, no new car purchase.) A 2009 with all options and 19k on the odo. $60-62k is about right for retail and especially if the dealer CPO's it.

The 07-09 E63 are great cars, like most cars, they have their teething problems for say.
Every car does, look at the Ferrari 458 Italia, their burning up all over the place. At least Mercedes doesn't have that problem. The only issues, that I had dealt with was replacing rear air struts, all covered under warranty and the occassional sqeaky brakes here and there. I've found that this usually occurs, when my wheels are dirty with brake dust. After washing it down with a power washer, the problem goes away. But these are minor issues. No tranny or engine problems. Although on cold mornings, you do get a lifter noise, because the oil hasn't made it's way to lubricate it yet. But after a few seconds the noise goes away. More so then not, your worries don't assist with the powertrain, but the electronics. These vehicles are heavily laden with electronics gizmos, and these gizmos is where you find most of your troubles stem from. Other then that, these are great cars. And they will haul the hay, if you know what I mean. Besides that, it's an AMG. Those three letters alone speak volumes. Most people will not know what those three letters even mean. Ignorance is bliss. But those who do, will not challenge you, only arrogance or ignorance will.

Hello All,
I’m seriously considering purchasing an ’09 E63, 10k miles, black on black, P2, parktronic, pano roof, trunk closer & side window blinds. Any opinions on this model good, bad or otherwise would be greatly appreciated.
This will be my first AMG, not my first benz, currently driving an 07 E550 4matic with only 5K miles on it. As mentioned any info would be valued.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

WOW!! How do you have an '07 E550 with only 5k miles on it? If you get the E63, I would recommend driving it more than your E550. I say that because the hand built motors in the E63 are like racing engines, and really to be be regularly exercised.
As far as the car you are looking at, that is great to find one that is essentially almost new! Drive it and you will love it. My '07 E63 has given me many thousand miles of smiles, and shocked the heck out of many unsuspacting passengers who did not expected to be planted in their seat when I punched the gas to merge onto the highway. LOL!!

In Montana YES most certainely you need 4matic if it's your daily driver. But as I mentioned my 07 E550 W4 only has 5K miles on it and I bought it new. Didn't drive it at all in the winter, all 6 months of it here in the Big Sky Country.

58-59k should net you the car, cpo is generally no more than tire dressing and a squirt with a hose pipe...

But what also makes sense financially is that with a CPO you do get an extended warranty. Again, this is subsidized by MBUSA to the dealer and the buyer can end up getting the expensive extended MB warranty at a reduced rate when buying a CPO'd car.
If you crunch the numbers it can come out in the buyer's favor to pay the premium over a non-CPO'd car (esp if you'll ever be wanting to be getting an extended warranty.)

It's a bit more than that. The work is subsidized by MBUSA and the dealer does replace stuff beyond state law requirements like "useable tires and adequate brakes." So monetarily it can be worthwhile to the buyer since a lot of those replacement parts are maintenance parts and not under the standard factory warranty.

sounds exactly like my car, except mine is an 08. Buy it. You won't regret it if you do, but if you don't, you will
