180mm, HE and Jerry Stage 2 Tune Next Week!

Very excited of course and I'm having Dyno Comp doing the install late this week or early next.

As soon as everything's in I'll do a quick video and a run on a closed/deserted street near by so you guys can take a look.

It's nice and cold here in AZ right now so she should be quick!

If everything goes smoothely what will my HP/TQ numbers most likely be at crank/at wheel?

Can't wait!

Alex

Also a bit off topic but the orginal series Spartacus is coming back in January on Starz. Think Gladiator meets 300. Very cool.

I say 571ftlb and 463whp your killing the top end by keeping the stock manifolds but its going to rip down low.

Come on now, you are almost there, you GOTTA do headers while you are at it. Everyone skips headers and we are talking literally almost 50whp!

Do it as a Christmas present to yourself....trust me.....you will friggin love it!!

HEAD--ERS!! HEAD--ERS!! HEAD-ERS!!!

Ohhhh okay, least I tried.

It'll be a nice bump in hp for ya. Very smart with HE!

Enjoy!
and get headers too

Sorry for the slight OT, but now that you guys are talking headers ...

Are the PLM headers the only ones that DON'T get rid of the cats?

My ONLY issue with headers is not passing emissions because the cats are deleted and the ECU is adjusted, which will obviously fail.

Thanks for any help and sorry again for OT.

Listen to this guy!

He was SPOT on with his guess of what kind of hp/tq numbers I would put down with my car.

Guys, yes I know! Headers are next but the cheapest are $1,500 plus $500 install. That is my next upgrade and then it will be the beast!

Question what is the HP difference between long tube and short tube headers with my mods. I heard shorties are +20HP and long tubes are +40. Long tubes can be almost $1K more so I'm debating if their worth it. Can I get long tubes for under $2K? I'm definitely after more HP but if it's only 20HP difference for a $1K ($ per HP) I may pass on the long tubes.

Can't wait to film the video!

You can get Kleemann headers for $1500. These come with a down pipe that replaces the primary cats, but you can still run the secondaries. These make great power, case in point Luis trapping 129mph with them.

No doubting the power gains.

However, this will still fail emissions, at least in Maryland they will ... correct me if I'm wrong.

When you get the kleemann headers they go in the ecu and turn them to not present and it wont throw any codes, they don't mess with the voltage readings as its not in the tune file and on another part of the eeprom so it will pass just fine.

+1 Kleemann is the only ones so far that have figured out how to "false green" the cats to pass emissions.

Otherwise you have to fight the endless fight of yearly/bi yearly emissions war.

Sorry to take this off topic Alex. You are gonna love the power Jerry is gonna give ya. Make sure you have him turn off some of that torque limiting and you are gonna freak out how scary the car is.

Be careful and enjoy!

Will do! Thanks as always for the advice. Also if I went with Klemman shorties and the "Seperators" that keep the headers from touching the manifold to lower the heat, what additonal HP would I see based on what I'm about to do?

Shorties I believe provide less HP gain over long tubes but I don't want to have to mess with emssions.

Any idea?

I'm still chasing down something in my LT's keep getting a CEL. I guess with mods come bugs. This is starting to get old! There might be a set of MBH LT's for sale really cheap if I don't find this soon.

MBH LT's, test pipe, 2nd cats, resonator, then mufflers. All stock from test pipes back. I'm only getting CEL from passenger side. I'm hoping that its the Vband clamp. I already pulled header off and replaced all gaskets. replaced all O2 sensors.

I got the light on the way home from install.

how did you mount the secondary O2 sensors? Did you mount them straight into the downpipes?

Go with floored fab headers they are proven to be the best! I am not sure about emissions, but you can figure that out later

I am in the same boat. I keep getting a cel with my FF long tubes. I have replaced 02s as well. Going to rewire my extensions today and hope that solves the problem.

I have no idea. We don't worry about emissions over here on the shore!

Really? I'm getting my FF long tubes installed soon and I don't wanna have to deal with this. I hadn't heard of any other problems with FF users...

Good luck with the work Alex; all the PHX folks will have to meet up at some point and swap stories!

Yes perhaps later this month or in January we should have a PHX/Scottsdale meet up. I know of at least of of you here that are local. Would make a cool video and it would be good to meet other E55 fanatics.

Thanks.

OK, Jerry did a Stage 2 remote tune for me yesterday on the weekend no less, and I'm at Dyno Comp tomorrow for the 180mm, HE and AMG pedals install at 9AM MST. So the car is basically, "Pretuned" for the install.

So if all goes well I'll have the beast back tomorrow mid day and post a few vids on it's new performance.

Very, very excited!

BTW any tips/tricks for launching it with all of this installed? My guess is leave traction control on?

Thanks for all the advice here.

Alex
