Just bought the whole ChemGuys Store lol
Just bought a whole list of materials to get my car back in G-mode!!! Anybody have advice on the processes of what to do or tips and tricks? I checked the detailing form and a lot of the posts seem to be very outdated. I want to use these materials without messing up my paint so I am looking to do research before jumping into something which can potentially damage my baby
This is what I am planning:
-Clean wheels inside and outside and scrub the outside of the tires to remove
dirt and buildup.
-Foam car down and wash properly
-Check to see if any slight polishing is needed for swirl marks (do not think
so)
-Clay the whole car
-Apply one or two coats of Jet Sealant
-Apply Wax
-Dress Tires
-Done
List of materials bought:
Items Ordered: Price: Status:
· 1 of : CLAY BAR (MEDIUM DUTY) -HUGE 209G ELASTIC MEDIUM DUTY USE POLY CLAY BAR & LUBRICANT DETAIL SPRAY (VALUE PACK) $21.95 Processing
· 2 of : CONTOUR EZ-FORM APPLICATOR TIRES & TRIM FORMS TO THE SURFACE FOR EASY APPLICATION $3.90 Processing
· 1 of : Curved Lightning Fast TIRE BRUSH-Professional Exterior Auto Detailing Induro-BRUSH #3 $6.45 Processing

· 1 of : EXTREME V.R.P. DRESSING 2 LONG LASTING Super Shine 100% Dry to Touch Vinyl, Rubber -Tire & Plastic Restorer+Protectant (16 oz) $8.95 Processing
· 1 of : FOAM BLASTER FOAM CANNON WASHING KIT WITH 3 FREE HIGH FOAMING SOAPS $58.12 Processing

The good thing is that sealant will actually fill in a lot of minor imperfections and some swirls, so you don't always need to get the DA out and waste a whole day buffing

That's great news! Yeah no buffing or power tools in my hands besides that I think the other processes should not be too hard. Do u think one coat of jet seal will be good since I'm going to wax after? Thx

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
That's a pretty good tire swiper, makes the job easier & no mess on hands.
You will like it.
Griot's garage also has a red on (slightly different style) with circular knob to hold. It's even better. Detailing is great & quite relaxing/fulfilling.

HUGE Price DROP, get them to honor it
You Clay FIRST before polish or wax.
Do you have a machine? Otherwise you'd be fine with McGuire Clay Kit and just $10 Polish and $15 Wax.

nice start like stated before the claying comes after the washing. For the Jetseal put on two coats about 20 min apart. Also one item your missing is a glaze if you want the best shine get a glaze it helps fill in those scratches and will do more for you than the polish if you don't have a polisher. The VRP has a great wet look but comes off with the first sign of rain from what I have experienced. Also there Sasquatch towels are the best get a set of those for buffing and it will save you time and your arm. I am a chemical guys nut I can not hold myself back each time I visit there site. If you have any questions on the products you got just ask.

I have yet to try a Chemical Guys product that I didn't like... good luck with yours; hope you enjoy 'em at least as much.
FWIW, I'm surprised you didn't just buy one of their kits, like this:

LOL, IDK much about detailing, and so I found the chemguys website because that is what my previous detailer used, and they have everything in one place.
IDK what is the best or worst, but I do know they are considered to be good, so I am happy.

Yeah man, one coat of sealant is plenty...Sealant is a b*tch to buff off and it kinda stays wet a day or two. Putting wax on over it makes the depth really pop, which I'm sure you heard Like everyone says, wash, then clay, then sealant...I gotta tell you though, there is nothing easier than using a good DA polisher like the Porter Cable 7424. Makes everything so much easier, and you would actually have to try to jack your paint with a Dual Action...

+1 on CG Jet Seal. Just got mine done up 2 weeks ago with that stuff. It did actually fill in some of the swirls giving some minor paint correction which is cool.
I'm lazy, I have a pro do my details however...
