Battery failure 03 E55
Hope I havent missed something in the archives.
Friends car showed" Battery voltage low Command shutdown in 10 minutes" and then proceeded to shut ignition off while driving without further warning.
Is there a limp mode that can/should be activated?
Has anyone struck this before.?
Clearly battery is dead but maybe alternator faulty as well.
There have been no other telltale warning signs leading up to this event.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Had very similar problem. First convenience functions off then Command shutdown and finally SBC brake failure, and thats when I had to pulled over and called a tow truck. Had the battery tested at AutoZone and found out that it was still a healthy battery that took charge which meant my alternator had failed. Bought an alternator from a local junkyard off an SL55 for $200 and found a mechanic that was willing to change it for $150. This is also when I realized how expensive AMG parts were when the dealer quoted me $1700, so once my car was running drove straight to a dealer to buy aftermarket warranty.
