My rear subframe bolt snapped
Yesterday while doing my rear brake pad i noticed my passenger side rear subframe was hanging. Upon further inspection the noticed the bolt has sheered off. the mount still seems fine. I am about to go to a fellow members house to see if we can drill the bolt out and put a new one in. It seems like the bolt was snapped for a while becuase i noticed a unsual thud in the back of the car which started a couple of months ago.
which me all the luck, hopefully i can get this issue resolved.

Whatever we're tuning!
You might as well change the mounts, stops and bolts on the subframe and rear carrier while you have it down.
Also weld up some plates to strengthen the floor where the subframe bolts attach so you won't tear the sheet metal.
GL with the repair Shardul. Definitely a PITA!! Do it once and do it right!

Yes PITA, happened to me, this is a weak area and can end up with both sides being pulled out of the chasis..........SARDUL catch it early before it gets more exspensive
Good luck

sorry to hear about this brother, however, with the support crew you have down in Houston, I'm sure it'll be put back together in no time (and probably better than it was in the first place)

ok guys we got the car fixed yesterday would not have been possbile without the help of AUS-E55 and Jerry@eurochagred. it took use about 4 hrs since we had to make 5 trips to sears. Now i think we can do the job in under an hour.
We drilled the old bolt out, and put a thicker and longer nut and bolt assembly. we had to cut some sheet metal in the wheel well to access the other side of the bolt. the reason i went this route is becasue i didnot want to drop the whole rear subframe since we didnot have access to a lift and time was an issue.
Guys all i can say is check your subrame mounts it seems like i was driving with a broken sub frame bolt for a while. If you get the deadbod thud in the back check the mounts.

im reading more and more about this issue.. and seems its a matter of time...
specially for the 2003 cars.
However I don't recall reading of any dealer fixing this issue under warranty or extended warranty.
I just had my radiator, trans and tq converter replaced, it turned out to be the coolant leaking into the trans.
When I first took it in, I thought it was the sub frame bolts and worried how the warranty was going to cover this repair.
if you can post any pics of the repair it would be extremely helpful.

Shardul,
Interesting post. Will include a check for this in my mtce schedule. Just one question though. What was yr odometer reading at the time of the incident?

Yes, easily! The parts become stressed under a crash and can break later.
