I agree. As a general rule (with rare exception), I will skip the first model year or at the very least skip the early production of the first model year.

I agree 100%, having come from the BMW family and watched them slaughter the 2002 "new" 7 series. Took them 2 years to get it right, electronically.

Interestingly, however, is the fact that i am good friends with a guy who is an engineer at the Ford truck plant here in Louisville. He told me never to buy year one for the reasons discussed above - still working out the bugs. But, he also said that once the bugs are worked out, manufacturers (at least Ford) then spent time trying to move the profit margin back somewhat, and get money back out of the production of the vehicle - cheaper parts, etc. Just food for thought.
