Question High Speed Instability?

I read this on the W212 (non-AMG) forums.

https://mbworld.org/forums/4454482-post15.html

Is this true? Anybody know about this conclusively?

So, are some residents of Mexico in danger?

In my experience, it seems about right. E55 was/is particularly bad at +120 and 63 is not that much better, either too floaty or with p30 too too stiff to handle uneven surfaces. That said 99 percent of drivers will either not reach such high speeds or will be think stability is great if they've come from a 'Stang.

I actually find high speeds to be very uneventful in this car. Seems very stable to me.

The post says: "150mph plus the cars would develop a diagonal weaving motion."

Not concerned about 'floaty' or 'stiff,' etc.. but what the "diagonal weaving motion" is all about.

And yeah, I feel stable at high speeds. But then again I also have a non-P30 car and stock ECU with a limiter.

I've been well above that. In mexico of course. It's stable enough for me to steer with one hand while taking video of the IC or GPS with my phone.

But then again this is an E55 so no P30 and is tuned by Kleemann, so limiter removed.

stupid -- i never had a problem when my car was stock -- much more stable at high speed than my E39 M5 with coil-overs ... at least it felt stable -- the car gets to speed so quickly it feels very stable to me.

Since lowering my car -- i have had no 2nd thoughts about high speed stability -- even after i got the limiter removed. Even with my pano open i have gone to +170mph with no fear and no signs of instability.

I think the guy who is bringing this up -- has not driven in an E55 at high speeds

Airmatic cars are just as stable at speed as non-Airmatic cars. I don't have either AMG that he's talking about, but my suspension (less sway bars) is identical and I have never experienced any weaving at up to 170mph. If anything a non-AMG should have more instability as well. Further, my E350 on springs was just the same as the CLS at high speeds.

Does an E63 really have a smaller fuel tank than an E550?
