I remember reading that some guys who had tried to do the E63 paddle conversions themselves had issues with fitment. They said that the paddles ended up at an odd angle because the back of the wheel E55 is shaped differently, and made it slightly awkward and out-of-position compared to a true E63 wheel.
Did you guys notice this sort of problem when you were first developing your paddle conversion? Curious to hear your comments.
I'm still dreaming about a full-alcantra wheel from you guys...now I'm thinking it will need the paddle conversion too!

The issues with the E63 paddles in the early (2003-2006?) E55 wheel were that the angle (of the installed paddles) was different (not bad, just different) and that they ended up a little closer to the outside rim of the wheel (not really an issue, again, just different). Another issue was that the new paddle seldom fit 100% flush in the back side of the wheel due to the differences between the shape of the old shift button (and the corresponding molded pocket in the wheel) and the new shift paddle. Thru some clever reconstructive surgery technics, these issues have been mitigated and/or eliminated.
The biggest issue, however, was that previously this conversion was made using trimmed-down (recycled) switch internals mounted inside of hogged-out E63 paddles. Depending on the skill of the fabricator, these could work well or... they could be have problems with feel and function. These issues related to the paddle switch feel and function (and the need to go thru the bother of creating "Frankenstein'd paddles") have all been eliminated by the Paddle converter module.
P.S. In the 2 pictures above that Ivan has posted, someone has marked the paddle converter module with "up" and "down" ... this is unnecessary as the module is designed to accept either paddle plugged into either port (and it will always know which is which).

Can you pm me price for a wheel for a 2004 e55 with e63 style paddles please and thank you. My interior is that greyish black wood grain lol. Not sure what you guys call it. Fairly new to the car.
