New here. 06 E55
Hi all,
I am new here. I've been lurking the forum for several months, just never registered until now.
I bought an 06 E55 w/ 34K miles on it and still under original factory warranty back in June; I paid $31 grand.
I just turned 39K miles. I was wondering what I need to do maintenance wise around this mileage.
Transmission fluid change? Anything else that's critical? I read that the motor and tranny mounts typically fail/show wear around this mileage. Also, should I get the SC belt checked as well or does the dealership automatically check these items?
I am still under original MB factory warranty until May this year.
Thank you for the help and looking forward to learning more.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase of a very nice car. I recommend that you start by reading the owners manual and maintenance interval manual that came with car (if they were not provided they can be accessed from mbusa.com). Chances are, your questions are not unique and you should utilize the search function...there is a wealth of knowledge on here.

First reco I would make is to acquire some sort of extended warranty protection for the vehicle once out of the factory warranty. Good luck, you should love the car if properly maintained.

I do agree,it might be a good idea to have some sort of extended warranty as you never know.
Around 40K,one would need the filters, the brake service (fluid flush/pads) and the main one, which is transmission fluid flush.
Great choice as there's nothing out there that can rival this car in looks or the performance, period.

The service schedule calls for a transmission service at 40K miles. The supercharger belt is also scheduled to be changed at 40K miles.
When is the next service due, per the instrument panel display? The car maintains its own service schedule - once every 10K miles, or 1 year - whichever comes first. Do you have service records showing when/where the car was serviced?
Brake fluid is supposed to be flushed every 2 years, so the car is just coming due for its 2nd service.

I would research a MB indie shop that could do the work. I was lucky and found one that was run by a group of ex MB tech about a mile away from the MB dealership.
The service was same but a third less expensive...you may lose out on the free car rental but that doesn't usually offset the "bend you over" labor charges you will encounter.
Have run the VIN with your local dealership to find out it's maintenance and mechanical history?

Yes - I only post information straight out of the service booklet. If you have the collection of owners manuals, there is a service booklet in there. In the back it gives all the maintenance tasks required and the interval at which they are required. I am always surprised how few people bother to read and understand this, even enthusiast types that hang out around here!
