Out of curiosity does your climate control work?

Yes climate works fine. Indicators, wipers all work, but nothing shows up on the dash. High Beam only works when you hold in toward you but not when you push it outwards. Thanks.

same problem

Hi. I've got the same problem as of yesterday. Instrument cluster in 2007 e350 just went completely dead.

It looks like this was a known problem in s and c class mercedes from 2002-2006 and mercedes did a recall and extended the warranty to ten years.

But, though every 2007 and 08 mercedes in the us will likely have it fail soon I'm assuming there's nothing yet in the works? Can't figure out why the car owners for these get screwed. Same thing happened with the back tail lights burning out due to melted wiring. Mercedes issued a free recall for c class but not for these, though mine did the same thing. And those that pay $1500 bucks will likely never get it back if they do issue a recall.

Some people with the s class seem to have removed the cluster themselves and sent it to MA and saved 1K. Can we do that too?

Perform a hard reset by pulling the cluster out. You can do this simply by pulling the plastic trim around the cluster out, then there will be four T20's you'll need bits that are about six inches long. Remove the four torx screws and pull the cluster out carefully because you can crack the cover. There will be a single connector for the cluster unlock and detach it for about 10 seconds. Reinsert and lock the connector and turn the key on (make sure the cluster is plugged in all the way or you will get a check engine light). If this does not work your cluster is probably dead. Best of luck to you all.
