Hello, I m considering buying a 2007 e63 (white on beige, p2, 32 000 miles) and would like to know if there is anything i should look for before i hand him $39 000 on Monday. The vehicle went through the 30 000 miles service in November but is now out of warranty. I drove it last week and it seemed in perfect condition but what do i know?! Also, how much should i budget annually for maintenance and wear items?

why is it out of warranty ??? See if it qualifies for a MB warranty and why didnt it make it to a CPO ?? Brakes are bucks , rotors are double . 722.9 trans is a slob and alot of problems have been showing with them . 12k tag for a new trans i am on my 3rd and maybe 4th .

OK, thanks! the owner said he thought it was out of warranty but i'll check at the dealership on monday, plus I will enquire about the extended warranty. I did look at the front brakes and they appeared brand new, confirming what the PO had told me.
not familiar with 722.9 transmission issues. is that something that i could pick up on a follow up test drive? if so, how?

I would be buying from an individual, which, according to a forum search,
would leave purchasing an extended warranty from a third party my only choice, am i correct?
I'll check on monday with the dealer but something is clear now after reading this forum for the past two hours, Im not buying this car, no matter how perfect it looks and drive now, without some kind of warranty. I had $3000 a year budgeted in maintenance and repairs but it looks like that wouldnt be even close to be enough.

The biggest issues that face E63 owners are the brakes, rotors aren't cheap. The second is the airmatic suspension, there expensive to replace without a warranty. The engine is bulletproof, and the tranny can handle anything thrown at it. Trust me, it can take the hp and torque from the engine. Some have experienced some issues, very few tranny replacements, its usually the shift solenoid. Then there are some electrical issues, but there not isolated to the E63, they exist in all Mercedes Benz. Besides replacing my rear air springs under warranty, I haven't experienced any other issues.

OK, looks like it's gonna cost me.
Easycare through MB was outrageous: for a 4 year/48 000 miles, over $8000 with a $100 deductible per visit, still over $6000 with a $500 deductible. Ouch!!
I m still waiting to hear from easycare directly.
Carchex is more reasonable, $5600 to give me another 5 years and 43 000 miles, $100 per visit deductible. yes it is a lot of money upfront but it's pay now or pay later, right? 5600 for 5 years is 1100 per year. I dont know about you all but i ve spent at least that with my 7 series.
your thoughts?
