need help fixing rear view mirror (w211)

I have an 05 E55 and need assistance getting an exploded view drawing of the rear view mirror or some guidance on how to disassemble it.

Every time I accelerate the "auto-dim" makes my mirror go dark. sometime just in steady driving it will fade to dark every few seconds until I rap on it with something and it stops.

I think there is a loose wire or short in it but dont want to destroy it figuring how to take it off and apart......

All help appreciated !!

Mine does that too, oddly enough when it's pitch black out, and never with brights behind me...

cls 55 or FIAT Coupe T20v-6speed
did you check for any occlusion impeding free view by the sensor located on the front of the mirror assembly (opposite side of the mirror) ..

the auto-dim works by comparing the intensity of lights the mirror sees from the rear with the light it sees in front of the car.

My drivers side rear view mirror has been stuck in auto-dim for months.... I'm looking for a cheap fix as well. The dealer wants over $800 for the mirror itself...

sorry to say but if it reverted to that condition alone, this sounds like the electrochromic film reached the end of its life span ..

No problem with the sensors--even tried putting black tape over them and it still does it---
right now i would love to just take the mirror apart and disconnect the thing.
