Diffuser non cf look?

Just picked up a diffuser locally...

Im personally not a fan of CF and have no other cf on the car. Also wondering if anyone has even painted their diffusers? I was thinking matte black, but would that look stupid?

Suggestions?

Nope, that would look great. The C63s come matte black. So do some a Ferraris and others.

Try painting it with a mette clear spray. I did my shiny CF with a matte spray and it looks killer. I have a thread about it somewhere with lots of pics.

I plan to do mine matte black sometime in the future, I dont think yoiu can go wrong with that. I'm with you tho, I think the whole CF diffuser/lip/wing is a bit overkill. Especially now that our cars are a bit dated. I'm with Emoving on what he said, most new high performance cars come with matte black diffusers.

Just look at some really tricked out W-210's, we see them now and we think "LOL" but in their day they were "WOW"...

The diffuser looks like the jbspeed diffuser... im sure their all made in the same place somewhere aboard haha...

Anyhow, fitment is 90-95% on these, not a perfect fit, is that normal? Does anyone have diy on installing this ****, search found a whole lot of pix but no diy. Perhaps Ill make one haha...

How the fawk do you get the diffuser to stay, I highly double sided tape will work, Im thinking of either using polyurethane or the automotive goop stuff... Is it better to take the bumper off, or just use 4-5 clamps haha.

Any help would be great!

I just did mine today. I consider it attached to 200 mph. Past that I'm not sure but it's on there. Here's how I did it, I used three sprung clamps and attached the diffuser over the existing black piece/ bumper and got it just how I wanted it. Then I removed the Exhaust system. I then used a small drill to drill small pilot holes through the existing piece and into the diffuser. I then screwed 25 screws through the holes I drilled while pressing the diffuser as hard to the bumper as possible. I installed the exhaust again and then realized as others have that the tips sit too inboard with the diffuser so I cut the exhaust immediately after the resonator and added two sections of 3" pipe about 2.5" long. The hangers allow for this elongation because originally they are biased to the front of the car. I then had to remove the exhaust again because I could not weld the last bit at the very top. Pulled it down, welded the little parts that need it and put the exhaust back on. It worked well and I am not relying on some goo to hold parts to the car. Time consuming project? Yea. Diffuser going to fly off when I'm hauling a$$? Nah.
Anyone needing advice can just PM me.

Pictures? Doesnt it look odd with the screws showing?

My e63 lip is put on with polyurethane, it will rip into 40 pieces before it comes off haha... Not sure if you ever worked with that stuff but once it bonds to something, that ****s not comming off lol. Its the route I will probably go instead of screws.

Screws are not visible. They are going from the back side of the original piece into the inner, non-visible part of the diffuser. U cannot see any screws at all whatsoever and if you use many of them you won't see any gaps because the screws will pull the flexible bumper TO the non-flexible CF diffuser and it's shape. Not sure what u pictured but it looks factory. Not sure how to post pics from iPhone. Lemme try.

Why did you not remove the stock black plastic and remove the exhaust? Never heard of anybody having to remove their exhaust to fit a diffuser.

Yup, they are not 100% fit... I had hard time to install them and used 8 screws and without removing exhaust. They are all made in Taiwan product and the quality is the same as you find cheaper in ebay....

^^^ True they are all made in Taiwan. First thing that I always expect when buying something after market is for there to be some sort of fitting issue or creative altering to get it to work. Hardly anything is ever 100% remove and replace. I would even say the euroteck diffuser is not 100% perfect, but close as you can get (98-99%).

Hi, on the euroteck diffuser I simply used the two screws that were provided and then a combination of the 3m tape that was already provided and clear weather resistant silicone. The silicone by itself would have been enough to keep it in place, so that is what I would recommend. Just remember to find like 4-5 clamps and leave them inplace for 24-48 hous, good luck!

You can Clear Matte UV Spray the gloss CF to give it a matte look as well.https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...front-lip.html
