GOING TO LOOK AT E55

im going to look at buying a 04 e55, just looking for some pointers for things to look at listen for? any help would be great

Duhhh he drives a question mark! lol, just busting your *****.

Things to look out for, IATs (if you get to test drive it), levelness between all 4 tires from ground to fender, DTC codes/malfunctions.. and get an inspection and warranty if possible.

Wow, there are so many posts on what to look for in the E55 on this forum . . . You don't even have to do a search -- just start with the top thread and work your way down. There's enough there that I passed and went with the E63 . . .

That would be funny as hell, if you went to test drive an E55, pulled out your obdII from fleabay, selected your TQ app, and started datalogging with the owner in the passenger seat.

Dude would be, what the hell are you doing, trying to tune my car, get out NOW

LOL...good stuff!!

Toddly, if it's at a Benz dealer, have them pull all service records on it. They are networked National so even if it was from Alaska, they will have records on it.

If not at Benz dealer, you can go to a local dealer with VIN and they will pull it for you.

oh, IF you can, get a compression test, cylinder 5 seems to be a weak link on these engines.

No you don't that was stupid of me, it's at the end of the fuel rail where rail pressure is the lowest

The point is that IAT's don't mean squat.

You can check for supercharger engagement and that will tell you if the IC pump is running but you don't need a data logger to tell you that

I would take the car home,hook it upto the SDS machine along with some data logging and if all checks out OK then get the car
