Sacramento Dragstrip traps 5mph slower than last year.

Sacramento has great DA, and is one of the only decent tracks within 450 miles of Southern California. Last year around this time the traps were reading about 2.5mph faster than the Vbox. Now it is reading 2.8 mph SLOWER than the Vbox. A 5mph+ difference.

N54.com member "Mr.5" was just running 11.9 at 116mph at Famoso the other week (with the AMG group) in 2500FT DA. So this Wednesday he made the 450 mile drive up to Sacramento for the Weds night draps to see what the car could do in ideal conditions. Weather was great, with and an incredibly great DA of -300Ft!. His ET was 11.880 (mediocre 60' times), with a ridiculously low trap of 113.643 mph.

FYI: This is a car that just went 180 mph rather easily on GPS the other day. And with less mods, he ran 118mph at Sacramento last visit.
Talk about going from one extreme to another! Hopefully members of this forum with a Vbox can keep us posted on the comparisons next time you are running at Sacramento. I'm certainly not going to make the 400 mile trip up there if they don't correct this.

I think everyone knows that sac has a messed up mph reading.I have yet to see any 135/335 trap over 115 at my track.

There was a kid there with every possible thing other than bigger turbos on his 135.V4,downpipes,meth,full exh, intercooler, intakes ect. yada yada yada!!!

He was trapping 114-115

I'm not sure about 5mph, but I would say 2.5-3.0 lower. I went in January because I heard they fixed their timing issues and I still ran 118.xx@11.81 so based on that and on what the track said my car use to run I would say 2.5-3.0 lower

Wow, I'm mad when I'm not trapping at least 120mph in my 335i SEDAN. And I have stock intercooler, turbos, rear exhaust and rear cats.

What track, and what DA was it on the days you were observing these trap speeds? Yes there is a wide variance in trap speeds with 335i BMWs. I ran 119mph+ on the same 2500 DA most recent track day at Famosa with the AMG group. I run a JB4 instead of the V4/V5, and I am currently achieving 11.7 at 123mph in my street trim. 3.5 sec 0-60. I am just starting to get the car towards some record 335i numbers..so these are just preliminary, but you can see the car runs pretty decent, and still gets 30mpg on the way back from the drag strip. Here are some even quicker test runs from last week:

From my 335i COUPE: I can show you some Vbox 133mph trap speed VBox 1/4 mile runs on level ground. (FYI: This would have been a 135.7mph Sacramento time slip ) So if you haven't seen a 335i trap over 115mph, perhaps they just didn't have the right combination or know how.

Your car traps 121mph, correct? Any idea what your 60-130 times are? By any chance are you local in Southern California? Would love to do some friendly 60-130 runs, to see how my car is running. PM me if you are local.

I live in MA and the track is newengland dragway. Its known for having low traps but the ET is spot on.

I need to update my sig,I ran an 11.3x at 123 and pretty much got banned, they said if I come back and run anything under 11.5 without a cage they will ban my name from the track for life lol.

That is full weight also,I got on the scale at the track and was at a light 4460 lbs

I dont remember the DA but it was hot that day,I was only trapping 119-120.He said his car was running good and put down 460whp.I laughed because I said Im putting down 460whp and then he said it was a dynojet.

LOL at his 460rwhp. I never go to the dyno, or claim to make more than 400whp even. Although people say for a 3500lb race weight car to trap over 133mph takes 5xx rwhp. Thats why I don't even care about what my car is putting out, I just want it to be fast the way I drive it on the street.

You know, I have a video somewhere on youtube of me beating a fully modded, catless, downpipe, intercooled V4 335i coupe, in my coupe with just tune, tires, and high octane.

I know what you mean about the roll bar. When I ran 11.33 in the coupe, the guy said I needed to have a roll bar. (with 133mph traps, that car should have run in the 10's lol). The next time out, I definitely plan on getting below a 11.5 in the sedan. Being that I am getting a 11.6 with a 1.9 sec 2nd gear street launch, I don't think it will be a problem. The point is, I wanted to have a decent track like Sacramento without a 2500ft DA, so I hope they get their equipment issues resolved. I think I will email them and make sure they are aware of the problem.

I'm amazed at how well you can get the W211s to launch. I am assuming they don't have LSD? Sometimes I think it would be worth it to install a LSD so I could at least heat up my tires evenly at the drag strip. The last few times out, I just drove around the water box and did no warm up burnout. Just a quick rolling tire scrub.

Thats really good with a 1.9 60ft with a 1.6 you should hit 11 flat and if you get into the 1.5s a 10 second pass is there.

Im going to go out with a bang.Next time I run I will have a 185 pulley and run race gas.I never got to take it down the track the way it sits now with race gas in it and from last year I would pick up 1-1.3 mph going from 93 to 104.

Iv been trying to get it into the 10s and my track hates me now
