Quaife LSD

Would this increase or reduce weight? I know what the advantages are but would it add or take away weight? What about rotating weight?

I can see if Cory will weigh mine when he installs it versus the stock diff... but that won't be for another weeks time before I get down there.

No longer stock '06 E55, A3 3.2 Quattro, GLE 400d, R107 280SL, Golf Polo

More metal than the stock diff so its going to add some weight. And you are adding some driveline rotational mass too. The mass sits low to the ground so from a handling perspective its possibly a + but in terms of weight saving nope ... you will be adding.

Any minor weight gain is offset by increased traction. Bottom line is straight line or twisties, you will be faster with an LSD.

it weighs about 8.5kg
don't know how much the difference with the stock unit but guess its negligible, if any ..
it could even be less

This. I can't believe these cars don't come with a LSD from the factory.

Just had my quaife fitted. Best mod ever. TC does not step in like it used to anymore. You are able to come out of corners alot quicker.

Install.... Book says 10 -11 hours labor.

At $400 I'm driving to Colorado for my install.

I've done the install on my quaife within 4 hours, so anyone that tells you it will take 10-11 is full of it. Also if I remember correctly the quiafe unit actually weights a little more then factory.
