Heated/cool seat function

So I bought my e55 a week ago. I noticed that the heated/cool seat function wasn't working. The dealership I bought the car from said it was just a fuse that needed to be replaced and that it was no big deal. Well they replace it and it worked for about 25mins and it popped again. Took it back to them again and they replaced the fuse again and they tried to get the fuse to pop themselves but nothing happened so they told me to come pick it up that the car was fine now. It worked for about an hr and it went out again. I had mercedes do a ppi on the car and they looked at the seat and told me that it was more than likely a short in the wiring. They said to fix it they need to replace all the wiring and it was going to cost $2300. Before I attempt to even consider getting the seats fixed for even a fraction of that cost I wanted to see if you guys have had anything similar happen to you and what was the culprit of it? Thanks

Isn't that covered under the extended warranty ?

I just had all my seat functions die on a trip last week.....

Just driving along minding my own business whey felt the air bladders deflating. Hit the dynamic seat button and nothing happened. It might just be a fuse, but I think that the heated / cooling functions stopped working too.

Guess I need to break out the owners manual to figure out where the related fuses are located...

Nevermind,

My Dynamic seats somehow miraculously "healed" themselves on the way to work this AM....

If the fuzes are popping, their is definitely a short in the system somewhere, could it by the relay or switch?

The dealership called me today where I bought the car from. They said that there is something faulty in the seat that is causing the short/fuse to pop. They need to order the part from germany and it will be here in 2 weeks.

I'm revisiting this thread because the problem was never fixed. The **** lot dealership I bought the car from said I needed a whole new seat element/cover and it was a part they wouldn't be able to get because it was backordered for years. I myself don't think it needs new elements (they work fine) but something is causing the fuse's to pop. I think you might be onto something Yuille, where can I find the part numbers for the switch?

Could just be the seat module
Do the heat (red) and ventilated (blue) lights only come on when you press the button as opposed to having them stay on when you press the buttons?
**** dealership lol

I just put in a new fuse, all the functions work properly now. I can turn the red and the blue on at the same time and scale them up/down and turn them off just fine. Something happens though when they get put under a certain load that pops the fuse. Both seat warmers work great until that happens.

I noticed the fuse the dealership put in was a 30 AMP fuse. The Mercedes manual calls for a 25 AMP fuse. I don't think having a bigger fuse in there would of caused this? Like you said, smaller fuse would cause some problems but not bigger, right?

They put the larger AMP fuse in there, hoping that it wouldn't blow. But the problem still exists.

I thought my dynamics had failed. They even threw a code...but...if you have your bolsters cranked all the way up and turn them on...they won't work...and can possibly throw a code. That's what mine did and after a $150 service bill from MB to diagnose and test the bladders and tell me it was fine...well...they're happy.
