W211 AMG's in Twin-Cities??
Hey everybody... I just wanted to get a feel for how many other forum members own E55's or E63's here in the Minneapolis/St.Paul area... I just relocated from Kansas City and I haven't seen a lot of 'em here, but I know they MUST be here someplace
Or...if you are in the area and love AMGs of any model, I'd love to hear from you!
Post pics if you can. Thanks!

Well, the car is now at its new home. Loving it!
Do you guys have any recommendations for good shops to use when I need one? Do you guys use MB dealers or independant shops?
thanks
John

Due to the potholes in downtown Minneapolis, I haven't really been driving mine a lot these days. Mostly just to drive around Maple Grove...
I'd love to hear input if anyone in the twin cities has any....

Thanks guys. As it turns out I already need a shop, or at least a good parts source. Have a rear strut leaking, luckily it isn't the air spring yet. Have you guys had to replace rear struts yet? I am having trouble finding a Place to get the part, I thought for sure I would be able to beat the dealer price!
Dlav, I am right near maple grove at 494 and bass lake road, have to keep our eyes peeled.
Thanks guys
John

BUMP -
Just wanted to send this back out to see if any of the W211 or W212 AMG owners in MSP are on this forum?
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you this Spring/Summer. It seems like Audi has the market cornered up here, and I want to make sure we're representin' MB to the fullest!

Arent most replacing struts with Arnott as they are like 500 compared to the 1500+ the dealer wants? You probably will see a few more in the spring and summer months as alot of people have winter cars cuz the winters and roads are horrible there.

Yeah, my beast is hibernating for the winter, as well. I just thought I'd try to start off the new year by getting some excitement going in the Cities. I don't usually run into many AMGs at the monthly Cars and Coffee events which take place from April to October.

I'm in the Woodbury area. Bought an '03 E55 in Dec., but probably won't get around to picking it up until late Jan. at best.... Then it sits until spring... Just kind of lurking here picking up bad ideas...

There's a few E55s in your city (three w211s that I know of), including mine. There are also quite a few other AMGs as well. More will be seen when the weather warms for sure, including mine. I won't be at the April C&C, but plan on being at the May event.
BTW, there's a particular w211 in town that is used as a winter beater that would be a good match for your setup.

I got there around 8:30, but didn't stick around long.. The Eden Prairie dept. of tourism and commerce ticketed me for tint and no front plate on the way there, which was a bit of a mood dampner.

Another Twin Cities E55 Owner
I just bought a 2003 E55 at the beginning of May. It is a one owner car originally from Texas, but the car had been in MN since 2010. The car is very clean and was very well maintained. I think my kids are the only people that have ever sat in the back seats!
So far I have had Imola Motorsports give it the once over right after I bought it. They said it was well cared for and gave me the green light to beat on it a bit.
I put new 5 spoke wheels on it, reused the front tires and put a set of summer only Continental 275/35/18's on back. A little wider and stickier, looks bad assed.
Finally took it to the track on Wed. Night for the street drags up at BIR. Drove 80 all the way up and got 21 mpg. Ran it down the track 10 minutes after I got there and ran a 13.005@108.7. I beat up on a bunch of newer cars including SRT-8 Challenger, New Mustang Gt, Subaru WRX, and a Shelby GT350 from 2008-2010ish. Played with different suspension and traction control settings and ended up running a best of 12.81@109.3! I'm loving this car!
I just got rid of a Pro Touring style 69 Chevelle with a 468 w/Brodix heads 575HP that ran 11.65-11.70s @115-116. That car was a bruiser but no AC, no OD, sloppy handling, terrible MPG and I don't miss it much.
Love my E55. Lets set something up to meet and talk AMG soon. PM me or just post a time and place, and I will try to get there.
