Passport 9500ci & Distronic = Automatic "Speed Trap" Braking??
I've been musing over this question for the last several weeks.....
What if a radar detector was coupled to the Distronic system so that in the event of an "instant on" radar trap, the car would automatically react with heavy braking (just like it detected an obstacle in front of the car)????
Sounds REALLY dangerous in some situations, but if there were a dash mounted switch where it could be enabled only in situations where it were critical (High speed runs in "Mexico" for example
).... it seems that the Distronic would have a reaction time WAY better than the driver would ever hope for, and might even be able to brake so quickly and heavily that the radar gun couldn't get an effective "lock".
I can think of a bunch of reasons (mostly about safety) why this could be a horrible idea, but under the right circumstances do you think it would actually WORK???![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
