Brake Job Question

Brake Job Question
My '99 E55 is in the shop for a brake job. Apparently the rotors can't be remachined, so the shop is giving me the option of either:
1. Replace only the pads and run on the current rotors, "see if I get any vibration or squeeling", if so also replace rotors as well.
2. Do both now.
At the cost of $400/ea. for the rotors, I'm inclined save the initial cash, but then again, I don't know much about this stuff so...
Any thoughts here...Is there some technical or saftey factors I should be considering here?

As long as you weren't getting vibration on the old pads and rotors don't have grooves on them you should be fine by just puting new pads (I've done this on two other vehicles).
Beware by mid to late life of the new pads you'll have to replace the rotors because they'll get under specs (minimum thickness). At that time you can replace rotors only as, or replace both, rotors and pads.
I bought my rotors from the dealer at 300.00 each and did the job myself (I like doing it myself, a Benz shop (not the dealer) had quoted me 625.00 for the rotors installed with me supplying my own pads) I put EBC pads on my car (they are green but you can paint them), to see if that would reduce the amount of brake dust, I am happy to see results are better than stock pads, only problem, they have a squealing point, all I need to do is brake a little bit harder or a little bit softer to get rid of the squealing.
Let me know if I can help you any further

There are crossed drilled Brembo replacement rotors for the E55 rear only. They sell them at www.evosport.com for $229.

Check out MB parts dealers on the web. The dealer listed below sells rear rotors for $86 a pair and they are the same as those that came from MB from the factory supposedly. If you order from this dealer use the coupon code 12345 for $10 off.
