If the car has never been CPO'd within the MBUSA dealer network then it's eligible for the MBUSA ELW if you buy it before the original factory warranty is up.
The ELW is 7/75 or 7/100. Your choice. And the prices vary from dealer to dealer. The finance guy at Modesto European Mercedes Benz (Modesto CA) sells MBUSA extended factory warranties at a pretty good price.

My local dealer told me i could buy up to 120 or 130k miles. That was on a cpo though and figured you can do the same with this car.
They just want the money up front.I think he said for another 3k i would get 2 added years to the one extra that came with cpo.
Either way if the car is still under factory you can add more to it.
And this car cant be a cpo since cpo is one year and this car still has a year left on the factory warranty. If this car had over 50k on it then it would qualify for a cpo.
It would be like paying for an extra warranty.

A MB can be CPO'ed while it's still under the original factory warranty. What happens is that the extra one-year CPO warranty doesn't kick in until the factory warranty expires based either on time or mileage. Most CPO vehicles sold are still under the original factory warranty.
The CP0'ed '08 ML550 I recently purchased is still under its original factory warranty. With basic CPO coverage, you get a 5th year and up to 100,000 miles. I paid extra and extended the warranty to 7 yrs. / 135,000 miles. It was a no-brainer decision to spend the extra cash to do this.

1) if the car is sold privately or by a non-MB dealer and still under factory warranty then it's eligible for the ELW (MBUSA extended factory warranty.) The current ELW options are 7/75 and 7/100. The ELW is simply an extended factory warranty. For new car buyers, there is a discount if you buy the ELW at the time of purchase (or within a small time window from date of in-service.)
2) if the car has gone thru the MB dealer network, then it's eligible for CPO status and not the ELW. The maximum current extended CPO warranty available is 7/135. The extra 35k was offered this February to help move a larger inventories of used MBs.
Both ELW and CPO cover the same issues. They are both extended factory warranties. The CPO is simply designed by MBUSA to help dealers move lease returns and offer incentives to buyers of used MB inventory. There are just separated by name only and by how they function internally among MBUSA and its independent dealer franchises.
Individual dealers can negotiate CPO and ELW pricing with their customers. But they still have to pay a certain cost themselves with MBUSA. But there is some wiggle room for consumers to negotiate and that room depends on how motivated the dealer is.
Hope that helps.
+2 on getting the 09 with the better COMAND system. It is that much better.

you can easily get an 09 for the price of this 08. while the performance package is desirable, the ride is rather stiff and may not be to your liking. Probably be able to find 09 with CPO for about the same price.. Good luck with your search.

Star,
The car you sent the link to above is not a P30 Performance Package equiped car. You won't find a P30 priced at $49K.
The P30 removes the 155 MPH speed limiter, adds a stiffer suspension, LSD, and a few other subframe and brake goodies. It's an extra cost on top of the E63.

sack5000 brought up a good point: the P30 ride is very noticeably stiffer than the regular E63 ride so it maybe not for everyone. I've driven both on the road course and 1/4 mile multiple times and obviously prefer the P30 ride
Once you get used to it, you can't go back

P30s r very hard to find. I am looking for one right now them and they are rare as hell. Few and far in between and the ones which you may find there price range is ridiculous. Finding them w/ a warranty, damn near impossible. Is there anyway to differentiate between a regular E63 on a first look? Has anyone ever just installed their own LSD, get their own suspension ie. lowering links, and removed their own speed limiter instead of paying 5K + extra for the P30?

Quaife LSD + Tune + Install = around 2k probably.. Its not that big of a deal. I would probably go this route instead because of the cost to replace the brakes on that P30 is very expensive.

Just curious to know what suspension options or available for this car, I know they must be limited. I know search button is my friend but I would like to see pics of different setups that board members put on their E63. As far as the tune alone does that remove the rev limiter?
