Hi stephens, is there still a chance of getting pics of the das screens for lowering an S class to ROW?
Thanks again

Stephens,
Have you had your car on a dyno yet? I have heard rumors that the computer has "issues" with dyno runs and will shut the power down. Have you or others experienced this? Any comments would be a help, have time on the dyno for the 19th.

The car has been on the dyno three times. Last time ECU had to be reset via DAS to get car going again! The theory from the MB tech involved is that with repeated dyno runs, the ECU "learns" to richen up the mixture to combat heat. Each time the ignition is switched off, these rich settings then become saved as base settings, until the car is running so rich that the ECU finally calls it quits.
Things I learnt from last time;
1. Don'tswitch off the car between runs.
2. Take the car off the dyno for a drive between sets of runs to cool down.
3. Make sure the Dyno facility has decent fans running all the time.
4. Keep the number of runs to an absolute minimum.(hard to do when you are testing)

Thanks for the info! Does the ESP need to be shut down? Have you been able to accomplish this? I am guessing it will take some MB DAS equipment...
Thanks for the help, I would rather not waste 4 hours of testing time re-living issues that I can deal with before I get to the facility.
Where did you get your BMC filters? What part number did you use?

I have the BMC filters. You can get them right from BMC. You use the same part# as the E320 and E500. BMC part # is 262/01. You have to buy 2 of them.

Stephens,
Do you have the step by step procedure to do this, or at least the setting that are needed to get the positions to be saved? You can post here or e-mail me at robhinaz@aol.com.
I have an appointment to lower the car next Monday at the dealer, and anything that you already know would be helpful.
Thanks,
Rob

The car should firstly be driven on to the wheel alignment jig. This is to ensure that it is on a completely flat surface and plugged into the service computer.
Once plugged in, move to Airmatic adjustments.
In this menu option you can raise/lower each of the front wheels individually as well as the rear.
This also shows you the voltage reading of each of the three sensors, along with the tolerance range for each. The idea is to then adjust each to the appropriate reading for the ride height you wish to obtain. (higher voltage = lower) The biggest limitation is the rear as mine is set at the threshhold value of 3.0V, sensor is different, but the tolerance values are on the screen for you to see anyway.
The trick is to get the car to save the values, as once you go to save the changes to 'active" the system asks for a secondary set of inclinometer values. From memory we used 4,-1.3 (I'll double check this at the office today), but had to try three or four different values near the listed range limits to get the system to accept the ride height changes.
This change does not affect the functionality of the suspension in any way, you can still raise and lower the car from the console for example. I have had no rubbing problems which was my biggest concern and believe me, I've done plenty of testing!!
The car now turns in quicker and feels "smaller" on the road. This has also helped reduce lean through faster turns and has not negatively impacted the cars ride.

Yes, but each car is a little different. The system tells you the max values it expects to see anyway, so it's a matter of just "playing around" with the numbers so to speak.

OK, I understand that there will be 3 sensors that will have voltage ranges and the higher the voltage the lower the car.
The question is then, where do we find the inclinometer values and are there three of them and are they voltages? Or what is the corelation between the sensor values and the inclinometer?
Sorry for the detail, it is just I would like to get this right on the first trip.

We're doing more work on the suspension today. I will take detailed notes and camera.
Update. Suspension work didn't happen today. Benz mechanic was away sick.

bump. Hi stephens, any luck with getting screen pics and info? There are numerous S class drivers that would be very appreciative.
Thanks

help
i tried doing this but have a few problems and questions.....
I'm having trouble saving the values...do the values need to be in parentheses? quotation marks?
Does the car have to be on a level ground? will that effect the values not being saved?
