A cheaper alternative for Recirculating Air Flap
I've been reading this forum for quite a lot of time now and thought i'd contribute.
As i have already posted here, my Recirculating Air Flap has gone for good and i was quoted for about $1000 for a new one. I simply could not accept it as a fact and started searching high and low for an alternative, cheaper one, since it was the second time this part got dead.
I've been skimming through the internet and MOTOR-TALK.de i found an interesting topic started by a German guy. Since Danke and Rammsteing are perhaps the only words i understand in German, i ran it through a Google Translator service which revealed the gist of this topic. Recirculating Air Flap, which goes under the part number A113 098 01 50 can be simply replaced by the one installed on 4 cylinder compressor engines under the part number A1110980109. I later contacted the guy over personal messages system and he confirmed it. The difference between those two is that our Flap has additional rubber cap and a cable harness. Which is not necessary.
So, today i went to a work shop and guys installed the flap - it works like a charm.

Yes, I guess it is.
A used 4 cyl version set me back by about $180 bucks. Don't know the price for a new one, but it shouldn't be much higher and it is not $1000 for sure!

Oh, and one more replacement - Throttle body with the Par # A 113 141 06 25 can be replaced with the one used in W210/W220/R129 under the part # A 113 141 01 25
Saves a lot of money.
