Do it, I sold a car several years back that I regret, and think about it all the time. If you gut tells you to do it man, do it. You could always sell it down the road if you need too.

I miss mine dearly as well... The new E63 doesn't address my needs for torque... Wished I had kept the E55...

i really really want to do it.

but i am also having second thoughts.

i heard the new CLS63TT is very fast.

i will sure tune it after the 1000km break and maybe install headers ( if available ) or delete all cats out of it.

if im buying it back i will keep it as it is without any more mods. maybe will add new larger fuel rail with larger injectors and tune it.

Question: How do you replace an E55?

Answer: You can't. Sure, you can buy another car, but it's not an E55.

Buy it back; you'll always wish you had.

How many miles on your old E55? The CLS63 TT is a great car. If the E has low low miles you will always get your money for it at a later date if you dont drive it much and it sits in your garage. The smart thing would be to buy it back. The low mile AMG cars that get old are searched for by guys that will pay to get a clean one.

when i read about the new 5.5TT engine and the performance of it and what it can do when you tune it.

i knew it is a good replacment for the E55. thats why i bought the new CLS63 TT.

i am trying with the new buyer to resell it for me.

he will think about it.

Yes but mods will be long time coming. They have the tune that gives you some hp but without headers, filters from K&N etc she'll be an upper 500hp car for awhile.

Compared to the torque monster in the mid/upper 6's you have now....eh hem, or had.

my mods that im thinking for the CLS63 after 1000 km break.

delete primary cats and resonators, K&N filters (ASA they are available), larger IC pumps, H/E ( brabus available), and a tune from my friend Jeremy OE Tuning.

expecting to reach with these mods above 650hp/700lbs-ft at the cranck.

but i want my E55 back

I can't imagine life with out my E55. Personally, the joy it brings me is worth more than money I could get for it. It just motivates me to work harder for that 997tt that will be next. They'll look good in the stable together and compliment each other well (got to do a manny tranny on the 997tt). Only problem is since I like to keep cars it makes storing them another expense. If youve got the storage space go for it. It's worth way more to you than the $'s it will take to get it back. Plus even if you decide to sell it later isn't the few G's lost in depreciation worth the time with it?

Considering you can get the 5.5L V12 TT to over 625 hp with just a tune, I don't think it will be that hard to get the 5.5L V8 TT to over 650 HP with the mods you listed. The gains will be centered around successfully tuning the ECU.

Buy it back! Im keeping mine forever. The trade-in value is ridiculous for the kind of car it is.

Ali just posted over on the CLS boards that Brabus claims they can get 730 out of the new CLS.

Buh bye E55!!! If you have Brabus Bill Gates kinda cash of course.

LOL so true

i will mod my CLS63TT as soon as i will break even the engine. i don't know if Brabus claim is true or not. but i hope i will wqueeze it to 600rwhp before 2012.

same list as above.

i am sure it will be crazy but i will know its performance by testing with my old E55 or my friends car that was holding side by side with my E55.

I did it. Was pissed at the price of fuel in late 2006, so I traded it in for an E350. 30 days later I had my car back as a CPO car and was happy as can be. My wife ended up with the E350. Hated it as well. She's in a C300 now.

Good luck with your decision...

I don't think mods will be too far out there for TT. Turbos are easier to mod ... up the boost level in the ECU and tune and you're there. No pullies to mess with. What might be harder is the direct injection stuff ... I don't understand a whole lot about tuning with the direct injection stuff and if there are differences there but that is a pretty significant technology change there. I don't imagine there are a lot of people that can mod direct injection injectors just yet unlike conventional injectors.

I wouldn't try too hard to buy back your E55 just yet ... see how you like your CLS first.

the owner called and he said he is not selling it for now .

well, it is all good. i will see how the CLS63TT is. maybe later on just buy it for a collection because i spent more than 20k USD on mods on it.

about the tune for new CLS and direct injection thing. Jeremy from OE Tuning alreadt tuned the new CLS550TT and there was nice gains out of it. for just the first time to tune one.

i hope CLS63 will gain alot more out of it.
