How do you guys drive the beast

I drove the beast on surface streets to my job yesterday, and the tranny seemed to be in the wrong gear the whole time.

I switched to manually selecting gears in sport mode and much better. After daily driving my supercharged mustang with a 5spd, that is the only thing I miss in the beast.

How do you guys ride with the tranny options?

Sport with ESP off, all the time. If it doesn't shift up or down to my liking, I use the paddle shifters on the steering wheel to bring myself to the gear I'm looking for.

Edit: I lied, not all the time. In stop and go traffic, it's less jerky in comfort mode.

That is what I found myself doing too, with the loud exhaust, I want the rpms above 2500, so you can hear the rumble, but the tranny likes it below that range for some reason.

I usually keep it in sport mode, I find I have to change gears manually as I cannot stand it when it upshifts when I don't want it to.

I drive in comfort mode. If I ever need to downshift all it takes is a tap of the steering wheel buttons but I rarely need to do so.

You do know I believe it takes off in 2nd with this mode selected. Don't get caught trying to drag someone when in comfort, you will be starting at a disadvantage

I guess my question should be more aimed at, who manually upshifts and downshifts their beast vs. leaving it in drive mode.

Nope...it just quickshifts into 2nd. It starts in 1st and almost immediately shifts into 2nd. If I go wot from a start or at about 10mph, it'll launch in 1st. I have however tried to go wot at about 20mph and it'll stay in 2nd....grrrrrrr....it's kind of annoying but whatever...lol.

I don't even try to get the 7Gtragic to do my bidding. It doesn't really accept my inputs as gospel. I really, really miss my SMG.

Sport mode all the time. Sometimes I'll use M, but not very often. I have noticed that if you try and manually change gears while not in M mode, the tranny will not always upshift when you tell it to. It will sometimes hold the gear longer than I want.

Newbie here (owned for 2 months)... but last night I turned off the ESP for the first time.

Uh...old news here, but I found myself TRYING to spin the tires at every chance I got. To much fun.

When manually upshifting or downshifting, S mode is faster than M mode, right? S mode will also upshift at redline for you if you get to excited and forget, won't it?

S mode 99% of the time. I read somewhere that they said the C mode load up the converter so it stays in a certain gear longer (hard on the converter). Also whenever I'm in C mode, I noticed the SC work a little more frequent too.

That is what prompted me to start this thread, the DCT in his B8 S4 is so sick. I love the way it sounds when you shift it, and it is so fast. Totally different feel, much more sporty.

In S mode, did you keep it in D, and let it shift for you?

Yup... Straight up Auto in the E.

Not in the Audi. I paddle shift her everywhere, love the tranny in this car...

Miss the torque sooooo much from the E

I'm always in Sport mode and will change in to Manual if I have to represent. Especially at a light as it will start in 2nd in Sport. Of course, I don't get many opportunities to represent...down here in Mexico and all...

When in D(Drive) with S mode, it does not start in 2nd from a light.

I always shift mine, I do have the paddles on the steering wheel but use the shifter from left to right for shifting, and of course always in S
