I will be trying the afe pro dry filters soon and comparing them to my k&ns I have now.
Have anyone else tried these yet?

I had them in my bmw 6 series... (drop ins) But after a few people ran the AFE intake system, and LOST hp, I decided never to use afe again. Cant go wrong with KN's, tried, tested and true

I run some aFe pro dry filters as a drop in replacement in my IS-F and they were losing power, I had before and after dyno to prove it, I was not the only one losing power with them on the IS-F.
I went with BMC filters on the Benz, tried and tested.

Where to buy those bmcs? how do they compare to the KNs?
Has anyone ever ran a CAI setup? Like cone filters infront of the grills, custom piping to the TB? (Away from the engine bay)

I saw a dyno with an m3 picking up power everywhere from switching to the afe after doing 2 pulls with the stock filter and then running the pro dry and doing 2 pulls.
Iv dyno'd my car enough to know that irs always 5-10whp off on different days so will see how it runs with the pro dries.
If the supercharger whine is louder than with the kns then its more free flowing.

Here is what the kid with the m3 said, his car had 2600 miles on it when he tested it.
I have an RD Sport axle back installed on my E90 M3 with AFE dry filter and since the installed I felt loose torque on low end, so I put the stock air filter back.
Will the AFE air filter loose low end? I could not wonder this mystery out of my mind.
Last Friday I found a decent local tuner shop with Dyno machine and they are Forum member friendly, give discounts to Forum members. (G-Dimension, James, 626-839-3777 City of Industry CA)
I was running the OEM filter in the car and took the AFE filter with me.
After few run with OEM filter, the shop let me swap to AFE filter to make a comparison, below is the Dyno result.
All and all, I was quite surprise to see the low end torque increase; I guess my butt Dyno was wrong.
Note: Blue line is run with OEM filter.
Red line is run with AFE dry filter.
and here is his dyno sheet, car was heat soaked with 2 pulls on stock filter and then swapped in the afe and re ran and picked up power,if he just did the afe first on a cold engine and swapped in the oem after the gains would of been more.

I threw in some K&N filters last night. Only thing that I could feel that was a bit different was the throttle response, it felt a bit smoother and better. I'm very happy especially @ $45 each..

Its werid the aFe felt like I had a snappier throttle responce but I only drove the car for a day while my k&Ns dried out from washing.
I drove with no filters at the track and the car felt like it lost throttle responce but picked up top end.
s4treg your stock filters look like the original ones so im sure the car feels a lot better now.

Yup, they are, and pretty used at that. The improvement was shocking to be honest, I didnt expect to feel that much if anything. On top of that I should have taken a photo of all the other stuff I vacuumed out of the airbox as well.
