Why no MB remote start option?

Can someone help me understand why a premium car company like MB doesn't even offer the remote start feature as an option? It's such a convenience in hot and/or cold weather. That 30 second a/c start up as you're walking across a parking lot is a life saver in 100*+ AZ heat. I know there are some aftermarket products but frankly I don't trust the way they interact with MB electronics.

My Caddies have it but even the lower priced GM cars have it as standard equipment. Most companies at least offer it as an option.

Am I missing something?

Get a compustar remote start. Had it installed over a year ago. fully integrates with Mercedes electronics. Works a half mile or better from the car. Also works from OE smart key.

Sounds good. Especially good that it can be used on the O/E smart key rather than a new key. I'll check it out but it still seems very strange that MB doesn't offer it.

Can the Compustar be programmed for different time intervals? I had an aftermarket r/s on a Tundra that would go 20 minutes.
