How much oil should be in engine?

When you go into the secret menu, it shows a live reading of current oil in the engine in quarts. What is the maximum oil one should show?

I think that their referring to the same procedure used to reset the FSS. But I never know that you can see what your current oil quantity is.

Dyno mode screen shows oil in liters, so 8.5 is where you want it to be if the engine is warm.

When I drain the oil through both drain plugs (front and back) and fill up with 9 quarts, the menu shows 7.2 qts with the motor off (for about 20 minutes). This has been the case for my last 4-5 oil changes.

Secret Menu:
- Insert your key and turn to the 1st position

- Press the trip odometer reset button three times.

- The MFD will then display the battery voltage.

- Press either the up or down arrow until you reach what you want

If that doesnt work...

Key postion 1, bring up the temp screen, turn key all way to right (Dont start)
Turn key to off position (leave key in)
Turn key to position 1, hit reset 3 times, should show voltage
Go into service menu

I don't think the sensor is very accurate. I pour 9 quarts of oil in and the car says it has 8 quarts ( without me even turning the engine on ). What about the other quart?

Hmmmm....I drain from both and a lot of oil comes from both so I don't know why you would drain from one.

When I change my oil, I drain both sides and by doing so, I'm able to stick a full 9 quarts in.
