Talking 2005 E55

After 18 months of waiting, I finally got my E55. It's lives up to the hype. I have a well massaged nitrous injected Vette and my wife has an M3 and I think that the E55 is quicker than both of them. I traded a E500 and I can't believe the difference between the two. They are completely different cars.

Talking

I may in time but right now I'm enjoying an extremely smooth and shake free ride. I'll probably wait til I need a new set of tires then consider chrome or forged wheels.

I'm in the middle of putting a Lingenfelter intake on the Vette and that will feed my sickness for a few more horses in that car. After that I plan to rebuild my Lincoln's 460 so that I can put it in a few shows. It's an original with 60K miles that I took to the prom in 71. Not worth much except for sentimental value.

I let my brother drive the E55 and he felt that it reminded him of the bullet trains in Europe. Feels smooth and difficult to tell how fast your going except the telephone poles are screaming by. He was most impressed.

Hey Vic,

Gorgeous car!

What are the specs on those wheels? I am looking for a set of wheels/tires that will "fill" the wheel well and yours have the look that I am after.

Thanks, the specs are 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears with a 36 offset in the front and 32 in the rear I believe.

Vic, love the Whip! Anything special needed to be down to 'tuck' that rear tire inside like that. What tire size you running - 265 or 275, etc. Thanks.

I am running 275x30x19's and no special mods needed, the tires do not rub and when the car flexes the wheels camber in so no probs. Of course tire wear is a little more favorable to the inside. Oh by the way got the lip spoiler too. Pics soon.

Hi,

I have order The same wheels as Vic55 had. I order 20X9 and 20X10. The place I order from told me that will be the only "1" that is special made. Maya only made up to 19" for W211, but I go ahead and order the 20's.

Very sporty look and very "hard" to clean too

Please post pics as I would love to see them on the car. Also if you would care to explain on what you plan on doing with the tires. Because I'm sure you knoe but if you decide to roll on 20's the control arm bolt gets in the way of the tire. Maybe it's me but I would love an answer to that. Any thoughts would be koo. Thanks

I could have got 20's... I went direct from the wholesaler who distributes these rims but I didn't want performance to diminish based on weight and inertia. I actually find these wheels easier to clean than my BBS LM's or Superleggara III's.

Real Cars
Here are some I took the other night... the lighting shows the car in a way that reminds me why I wanted a black E55...

It's just damn menacing.

Thanks for the input. I thought the wheel will be harder to clean...

Mine is a E500, so there is really not "performance issue" to it. I just like the look on 20's than 19". I was been infrom by visionsport that my rims arrived. So I should have the wheel install on this weeked with 245X30 and 285X25 on 20's. So the wheel will not go oversize than using 240X35 and 285X30.
