Cracked front wheel

I have been having issues the past 2 weeks with on of my tires dropping to 15 psi every 3-4 days and yesterday I finally got the car in the air to inspect the wheel/tire and see whats up. As soon as I get it up and spin the wheel I see a 1 inch crack on the inside lip of the wheel. Of course this happens 2 weeks after I buy 4 new continental tires so I really do not have many options but to try and find one factory front wheel or buy 4 new 18" wheels like AMG replicas or something along those line.

I really want to have black or gun metal wheels on my car and I may end up going that way if I cannot find a used factory wheel. I looked up what it would cost to replace new and it was over $900 from the dealer. Any advice would be appreciated and any links to decent aftermarket/amg replica wheels. I do not have the money for the 19" HRE's that I want so I need to make something work until the spring. Thanks!

Find some oem wheels in the classified section. I saw 4 go for around $500 or so. Then you can paint them any color you want.

I would do a nice wheel setup. What just happened gives you an excuse to go out there and find yourself a nice set of wheels along with tires. Knowing this forum you can find them in the classified section somewhere. Sell yours in the condition they are pay a little out of pocket and get yourself a new look.

thanks for your help. I went to
http://www.finishlinewheels.com/specials/16,MERCEDES/
and found a replacement factory rim for $390 but I found a whole new replica set for just over $600 which would look good on my flint grey
http://www.finishlinewheels.com/spec...5%29+Gunmetal/.

thanks again for your input guys

Cracking OEM wheels is normal. They're garbage. Happened once, had it repaired, cracked again [in 2 places different from the site of the original repair] as pictured in thread.

Repair it now, and pick up another set of wheels before it happens again.

I have my set of OEM wheels [which I had repaired the second time before I invested in new wheels] if you end up looking for a used set to buy. FL, RL, RR never cracked but have extensive curbage/exterior blemishes, whereas FR is the one that cracked twice.

thats funny, we both cracked the right front wheel. After doing some research online I am starting to pull away from the idea of repairing. The idea of the rim being heated and welded is only going to compromise the integrity and strength of the wheel which will make it softer and more prone to crack again. The car is my daily driver but I do enjoy some high speed blasts every once in a while and do not want to think about having the wheel/tire come apart at a 140 mph run. I am really thinking about picking up a set off of replica gun metal wheels from here for under $700 shipped for a set of 18x8.5/9.5

The one thing, I wil like to share, is that after a wheel is cracked, welding it back doesn't solve the problem, as the weld causes a stress point where the wheel will refracture. Ask me how I know Its better to just buy a new wheel, or in the case of a three piece modular, have the parts replaced.
