I've never run a front plate and my state requires it. I haven't put a front plate on my last 3 cars, only once got a ticket and that was at a car meet when the cops were breaking out equipment violations to f- with us.

There are rather inexpensive adapters you can buy if you decide to put on the front plate. They go behind the plate and create space between the plate and bumber to minimize the bend. Your dealer should have them for about 5 or 6 bucks if i remember correctly.

Are you talking about the plate holders that essentially has the bend in the back to accommodate the bumper bend but is flat on the other side to accommodate the licene plate?

If so, those are usually expensive relatively speaking for what it is.
Also they require drilling into the bumper to mount...which many of us dont like.

Not the plate holders. The ones I used were the spacers for a MB front logo plate. I just looked and they may not work as well for a state license plate after all.

When I bought my e63 it had a plate already from the dealer. Was not flush, and bent to hell. Ordered an AMG labeled frame and used a vise and hand bent it to form the point in our bumpers. Low tech to say the least but worked and looks good.

Anyone currently using the Skene Design holder? Can you post a picture of how far it sticks out? Turns out the are local, maybe I'll swing by and see what they have to offer.

In AZ we don't to run a front plate but based on what my plate, says I think I'd like to as long as it doesn't screw up bumper.
