I checked my bearing today and the grease is definitely coming from my bearing. it seems the orange cover has slightly shrunk and isn't sealing 100% and grease is seeping through the sides.
I guess I may as well leave it like this till it starts to make noise?

mine is doing the same now and i was told that if the bearing fails to watchout for a pulley to come flying through my engine compartment so i think i am going to change mine before that happens lol

not sure. recently changed my nachi bearing and shortly after noticed leaking but thought nothing of it. car started smoking. im guess the SC oil was leaking. for those in the know - when changing out the nachi bearing is it possible to create a scenario where the SC oil would be leaking other than if the drain plug were removed? the leak appeared to mostly be from behind the clutch assembly...

oil shooting up into my hood from the S/C pulley... hence my blue tape on my pictures to protect the paint. It did get on some and it never comes of on whatever it hits

Grease from the bearing.
Some grease loss might be somewhat normal on an old bearing. If you had the factory engine cover on there it would obviously be getting slung into the underneath of that instead of your bonnet like mine was.
I would take the belt off and see if you can find play in the bearing by hand and eye if you do replace it if not it might be o.k to go a bit longer.
There should be no play in that bearing when new.

sorry to revive an old thread.
I have supercharger oil leak around my pulley. Changed oil at some point in the past and based on this thread it seems that maybe a Seger Ring is leaking. I found a youtube video and took some screenshots. Can anyone point out where is that Seger ring which might be leaking and is that a MB part or I can find a generic seger ring to buy. thank you and stay safe . (ps. sucks to be pulling into the garage and someone pointing out my car smells like their cow poop).

I had the sc pulley separate and nearly shear off. New pulley started burning up on the clutch and I realized it was hard to turn the sc.
it was almost red hot. And burning sc oil. The rest of the sc oil drained into the engine bay and I experienced the smell everyone talks about. Well, everyone around my car has had the pleasure.
I have been driving without the belt for a week so this weekend I jumped in to see if I could find the root cause.
Pulled the sc today and cleaned everything. Then changed the sc oil and added 120ml. Then at least half dripped out behind the clutch.
Catching the dripping from behind the magnet.
I removed the pulley and wrapped the bolt and retried. Same.
I also noticed a lot of what looks like reddish oil on all of the surfaces in the air system. All the way into the engine. But this doesn’t stink like the sc oil. Even pooling here.
What I have not done is pull the clutch/ magnet. i saw your post and it looks like your one step further.
any luck?

That is probably engine oil from the crank case ventilation breather, common and not unusual on all engines and as the engine wears.
A catch can arrangement can help if your finding it an excessive amount.

Makes sense on the engine oil. Any ideas on the sc oil leaking?
Thanks. That makes sense. I was seeing a little smoke at high rpm but looked normal. This is my first look inside the air system. Still wrestling with what to do with the leaking.

I got mine all back together and took it to the shop. They confirmed it is a failed bearing in the clutch. Not much to do unless I can get it apart and replaced.
anyone have a spare supercharger they want to sell for a 2006 CLS55 M113K W219?
