1.5 hours worth last night was just small stuff. First, went over and checked all torque levels on head bolts and rocker arm assembly for the 3rd time. Then locked valv covers down and bolted dip sticks, ground wires and things like that onto the covers.
Found a tricky part and that is getting the cam tensioner bolt back in. The trick is to turn the crank pulley over slowly, until you feel the cam chain slacken up some. So, I put my finger inside the cam tensioner hole and felt the chain as I turned the crank. Then put engine oil on CT threads and carefully installed bolt. Then put alternator back on, as it blocks the CT bolt. Also put fluids back in motor but oil will come back out after a few miles. Shame to throw away good mobile one oil!
Like Shardul said, SC and headers are the only items left. NO EXTRA Bolts or missing parts either! We used zip bags and lots of small plastic containers with lids to label all bolts and parts. Oh yeah, we set up a build table to do sub assembly work on too.
I guess about 3-4 hours to complete now. Exciting, as it is like having a new clean motor. MORE POWER with LESS boost ! Thats the way to roll.
Shardul and I developed all our tricks now and have aquired the extra tricky tools needed to do the job right and fast! It is not that hard of a job, just takes all the right tools, organization, keeping all parts very clean and of course hard focused wrenching.
Staging parts to be cleaned, protected from dirt and then put back on.
The STAR CD comes in handy for detailed specs.
More pictures soon!

Yes sir! Shardul and I spent and hour on it last night. S/C, air tanks, fuel rail and injectors, plus time to straighten out wire looms and vacuum lines.
Rumor has it, Shardul is next for heads and Cams~!!
Made some S/C guides to hold gaskets in place and help set S/C down on. Justcut the heads off some long bolts and screwed them into the block.
