E55 AMG Without Warranty
Is it really that bad to get an 05 or so 55 without warranty? I've been searching and its hard to find one with a warranty, I only see 63s that still have warranty.
I keep hearing bout the main thing going bad thats expensive is the aromatic, but even that is only $2k which isn't THAT bad. Anything else I should be aware about?

I say as long as you at LEAST get a compression test done, the chances are good she will last awhile.
I just can't stress that enough. I have heard of more than one member, quick fixing up the car and ditching when he found pistons about to go on his car. Not lately but over the years for sure it's happened.
Would hate for you to snag one and a thousand miles later...POOF!
Other than piston damage, you got trannys which do go south at times but no often.
Then it depends how handy you are with a wrench. I have already replaced AC compressor, and Airmatic shock, and a few sensors which would have been arm and leg at stealer.
Bottom line it's like going to Vegas bro when you roll without warranty. Chances are you will walk away with just a few bucks out of your pocket (small stuff going wrong on car).....or you could end of being the star of Hangover III (piston pop, tranny gone, rear diff bolts shear with catastrophic damage) . Noone can predict it....wish we could.

Thanks Jakpro1,
I've searched quite a bit and can't really find a definite answer. Is there a warranty I can currently purchase for a 2004-05 e55 from a private owner or used car dealer? I saw that Chrysler warranty is not available anymore.
I'm just looking for less headache with an aftermarket warranty so I'm not suck with a car worth $20k with a repair bill of $10k.

In the Engine and Performance section, MB Auto Racing said he can get warranties for AMG cars. I believe his phone number is in the thread. Hope that helps. Good luck.
