Help me decide 08 E63 or 07 S550 4Matic
Hello,
I've owned a SLK 55 for about 4 yrs now, love the car but its too small and ride is little stiff. I guess I'm getting older (27 yrs) lol. Anyways, I'm having a hard time deciding which car to get. I test drove the E63 for about 5 minutes, it's faster and much more comfortable than the slk55. I will be test driving the 07 S550 tomorrow. I have a feeling that it just going to be a nice comfy ride with nice interior, not really fun to drive.
My question would be, in the long run (lets say 5 years) which one would have more problems and which is cheaper to maintain?
Also depreciation, I'm assuming the AMG would hold value better.
Would all the comfort, and luxury of the S class would make you want to choose it over the fun and power of the E63?

96 and 08 911 turbos
two completely different cars.
They will both depreciate like nobodies business though.
You need to decide if you want a sporty sedan or a huge comfortable sedan. I prefer the big comfortable car for the week, and the more pure weekend car.

If you live in the snow belt, the 4matic
If you live in the sun belt AMG
Maint costs will be about the same, with one exception rear tires on the AMG will only last 6-9k mi.

Great choices. Have you driven or sat inside an S550 yet? if not, try it... I think you'll have an answer. Good luck!

You're 27, get the E. The S is very large, and very much an older man's car. If you have to drive it in the snow, get snow tires. Problem solved.

Ohh, 27? Then get the 63. My response was based purely on the title of this thread.

I'd go with the e63. I know it's not the same thing, but I had an 08 cts4 (awd) which was more practical for where I live and had decent power. Then I sold it for the e55 strictly to get the power. So I'm kind of biased towards power. But test drive the s class and see if you like what is offers, never drove one but it seems like ppl are saying it's got decent power, and make ur decision from there.

I've driven both and they're completely different. The s550 is so smooth to the point where you don't really feel the power delivery. It's a thrill to drive, but I'd rather be chauffeured in it. If I had to choose one to drive myself, it would be the E63.
