been told it's not stainless is it true?

Hi guys i've been looking at getting the secondary cats and resonator removed which i thought was stainless but my contact who is going to do this tells me it is galvanised mild steel is this true?
also has anybody removed the centre box if so was it to loud cos i love the raw sound of a v8 i used to run a prostreet big block chevy woth a 8/71 blower which was 750bhp on pump gas!! and my e55 with stock system is a little too quiet for me.
anyhelp much appreciated cheers gra.

It's definitely not stainless steel. I think the resonator/2nd cat delete is the perfect balance between throaty while not being obnoxiously loud. I had it before running straight pipes and its a great mod.

Go for it, you wont be disappointed. I would do an h pipe instead of an x pipe by the secondary cats as it will give you a deeper growl with more bass. Yes, get rid of the Res too.

+1 on the general consensus. 2nd cat and resonator delete. I think it'll be just enough and not overkill for someone looking for just a lil more rumble.

The guy that called it galvanized, should not be hacking on an AMG.

Red face so who is right?????

i thank you all for your comments but some are saying it is stainless and other say not when i look at it there looks like some slight rust on the welds and the couplings are rusty but the pipe looks like it would pollish up.#
so have i read it correctly that all e55 have stainless as standard even on a 03 plate?

It is stainless. Stainless steel is corrosion resistent, but is not rust and stain proof. There are also different grades of stainless steel. If it contains a higher percentage of chromium and nickel, it will have a higher resistance to the elements.
