I think this is my 1st post over here and just picked up my E55 2 days ago. But here's my other good time "bug killer"
Cheers and thank you all for the information I've learned lurking for the past few months before my E55 purchase.

Beautiful 993! The previous owner is lucky to get that one back.

lol, I thought that was you! Don't ride anymore, sold the R6 back in 2007, too many dumbfuc*s on the roads these days, one too many close calls. I make do with fast cars now instead, but I may pick up a bike again one day. Good seeing you! The R6 days were a lot of fun, Luna, Mango etc. always a good time.

My 86 930 turbo with K29 turbo, B&B headers, Fabspeed exhaust, sc cams, B&B intercooler, Andial fuel enrichment... It shoots huge flames out the exhaust. LOL
My 1980 911sc Weissach edition. All stock. 1 of 400 ever made.
My daily driver. Not my pic, but same color.

Love the b5 s4. How reliable is that car at that level? I had a nagaro stage 2 last year and it was very costly to run daily. I may have just had bad luck. You on audizine much?
my 2001.5 Audi B5 S4 with Tial 605s on moderate boost and meth on stock block 489AWHP... once i have top end built i can run higher boost and be in lower 500ish awhp
My 2005 ninja zixxer 600
My sv650 twin
My 1970 Honda CB350 ratrod project (that will probably never get finished lol)
MY 1996 Honda CB600R after i was hit by idiot on cell phone...

I mix of rides between me and my father. A 1969 Mustang GT 350 tribute car, 2005 Mustang GT (modded), a 1969 Camaro SS, 2005 Corvette, and finally a 1932 Highboy custom hot rod.

As far as engine problems, the B5's come with forged internals from the factory so they are built like a tank and you never hear of too many blown engine stories.. the stock block and tranny are good for like up to 500awhp... then if you want to go tial770's or GT kits for the 600-1000hp level the top and bottom end have to be built..along with clutch upgrage
right now i am running only 24psi since i am on stock top end, but I am gonna to have my top end built so i can then turn the boost up and get to about 520ish....
most people say these cars are unreliable because they buy one that has tons of boost leaks from the pvc system and are constantly chasing down little boost leaks on a 10 yr old car and say "this car sucks" .. when they just need to just do a full boost leak test first day they buy it and most likely just replace all the hoses and diverter valves and then no boost leaks and no constant misfires/check engiine light...
that's all i ever had to deal with was few boost leaks, bad coil packs (notorious on the b5s but super easy fix) and the one abs unit that i mailed it for $100 rebuild.. total of probably $800 in repairs all easy DIY
so far i have had more problems in 7 months of E55 ownership (idler tensioner pulley broke, aux battery went out, door actuator out and windshied washer motor went out) than in my 4 years of b5 s4 ownership and they were heavily modified and E55 is still stock at moment
there was a guy sellling a fully built b5 s4 tial 605 car a few months back putting out 500awhp for 18K... decent deal... or you can pick up a stock one for $5-7K and start with a fresh canvas and go crazy with a GT build and be one of the 800+ awhp monsters that are just nuts

i have had 3 B5 S4's ( a stage 2+, a stage 3 and now this stage 3+) and i have been lucky with no major issues on any of them... I read all the horror stories back in the day on audizine of the B5's but i think a lot of it was just the stock Ko3 turbos going boink when people were pushin past 18psi on them... that and the ABS units going bad which used to be a $2000 repair but now u can get them rebuilt for like $100 (i had one fail on my stage 2+ and did the $100 mail-in rebuild and worked like a charm)..

[QUOTE=chawkins2001;4836387]Good to know. I had mine for 350 miles and the tranny blew and I just had a stage 2+ with constant CEL coming on. I just got frustrated and sold her. It was a beautiful car though and maintenance was all up to date with only 92K miles, here are some pics:
ugh that sux about the tranny...what year was it because i know the 2000's were notriously more unreliable than the 2001-2002's) ...and i think you are right in that you were just unlucky in that as i havent heard too many tranny blown stories on anything under stage 3... but i do tend to hear more bad stories on the lower mile cars (under 100K) than the higher mile cars... my current is 195K miles and my previous had 155K when i sold her... the cel is like 99% of time o2 sensor BS which is eliminated when you use spacer bung to back the o2 sensors out.(most stage 3 and up do that)
and your nogara looked sweet! engine bay was soooo clean- i envy that bay!
here was my stage 2+ before i sold her with 155K on it no problems
