2006 E55 AMG
first pics

been shopping around for a new car for my fiance. I wanted something she was safe in , 4 doors with ample room and enjoyable to drive and most important something i dont have knowledge on enough to mod. so we narrowed it down to a bmw or mb. we needed at least a mid size for me since i feel awkward in small cars . so used m5's and e55 amg were in our price range and the m5 was manual so that was out of the question for her. i also like the interior and creature comforts the mb had, not to mention the 5.5 l supercharged motor with a 2.2 l blower . so we started looking at used e55 amg's . these things are very hard to find and i was so picky on miles and options , i wanted everything (most things are standard but there are some options ) . we wanted the a/c seats , pano roof, dynamic drive seats(responds to corner by stiffening lumbar and side supports in turns) , bi xenon active hid's, rear window shade and a few others , so finding all those and the color we wanted was impossible , we have looked for 3 months with nothing but black and silver. we were stuck on white or grey. We found one about a month ago close to our home in this grey blue metallic color and i said hell no on blue but after going to look at it , the blue isnt blue at all . it had some really nice staggered 20" replica e55 wheels on it but had some issues with the pano roof and passenger seat upon test drive . they told me they would take care of them so we got the car for a deal . qualified for only 3% interest and a low payment of just over 300 that she felt comfortable with . after about 3 weeks of waiting on parts and crap to completely fix the problems (the roof ended up needing all new frame and rails with the little parts , and the seat needed to be cut out and the entire frame replaced since it couldnt move to get to the mounting bolts. ended up costing the dealer around 6k or so to fix it all. so they probably lost on this car but the roof is perect and so is the seat. im happy for now.
the car is awesome , 8 piston front brakes stops stupid fast ,its air ride and has suspension adjustments on the fly , the 470 hp and 520 tq on the freeway is not good , the car is so smooth going 100 feels like 50 .
here are some pics

im trying to fight the urge to mod but 11's are so easy with these , and a really good friend just got his 2010 cts-v and thinks he is invincable , the truck will have his ego crushed soon enough though.

nice pick up - however, spend even a small amount of time on this forum and you'll know what to do with mods (hint - pulley, headers, tune - easy 100hp and 100tq). . .uh oh, it took even less time than I thought. Congrads, have fun with it and just out of curiosity what profile sizes are on those 20's? The look a little tall

What year and how many miles? I just bought one, too, although it isn't in my driveway yet. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for?

Love the car and those reps look perfect on her. Just spend a few hours on this forum and you will learn a lot about your new toy. Just a little work and you can crush that CTS-V.

Nice choice in color btw. The Flint Grey crew grows larger daily.

you should see my other pick up , it will destroy the e55,

its an 2004 SS silverado awd , with a a 427 lsx twin gt-35 turbos and about 17 psi , runs 10.7 driven to and from the track in 100% street form on 22's all around . im shooting for 9's this winter with 18's and drag radials.

this car is going to stay relatively stock since its "hers"

ill just say we paid under 30 for it , a hair over 60k and everything now works great. got it financed for 3% interest so its not to expensive. need to do more reading on basic bolt on , heat exchanger and pump are probably first.

Very nice choice in color and options

Is Flint Gray the new Black? Flint Gray was a hard color to locate until I bought one. Now they are everywhere.

I had the same experience just a few months ago. Only found a couple out there, luckily mine was as unmolested as they get.

You bought it from WestCoast, they generally have very attractive price when I was shopping for my E55. Congrats in the purchase

First ... welcome!! nice looking car!
Second ... yah right see if it stops there ..lot's of "bad" influences around here! Mine started with "bolt ons" too. Unfortunately, everything "bolts on" , pulley, injectors, headers, even heads bolt on!

ok im very lsx motor friendly , we have programs to tune and modify the pcm which is software with a obd cable , what do i have to do for the e55 ? is there a program or do i need to take it someone ?

id like a tune and possibly a pulley , 11's would be fine , but keeping it reliable is even more important. i need to read more on what i need to watch out for , the air suspension failures i keep reading about is scaring me , im a mechanic for a living so im sure i can figure some things out but need to get the proper tools so any advice on what i need to service and maintain this would be nice , i know 0-40w oil .

but id like to not have any major problems and be ready for ones if i do , i know the search function does work but a link to some highlights of these problems or pinned threads are great , thanks for all the warm welcome's too.

i thought this car said it was like a blue grey but i didnt really see it , its definatly flint grey??
