you need to align the black cup'd inner bumper piece correctly with the actual outside side marker. once they're in alignment you bring them together with pressure and they should clip onto one another with the bumper imbetween them.
key is aligning them correctly as if you're off by 3mm the sidemarker and inner cup will not lock.
