Can You Help Me Diagnose This Sound?

Peeps,

Quick question, over the last few days I've been hearing this slight, "Creaking sound" near the drivers side front wheel and I turn the steering wheel from side to side. It's not suspension related as I hear it when the car is parked and I turn the steering wheel from side to side.

It's progressively getting louder as well.

Just this morning I stepped out into the garage with the car completely turned off and turned the steering wheel a bit from side to side and I could definitely hear the "Creaking" sound just near/over the front driver's side wheel and only when I'm turning it.

It's farily loud and getting louder but steering doesn't seem to be impacted, I can turn the wheel fine/smoothely.

Any idea what this could be? It just started the past few days.

Thanks as always!

Alex

It could be your ball joints that are worn. Get it on a lift and check them. There may be vertical play too. When ball joints wear the rubber cover cracks ans the grease eventual leaks out. That may be why you're hearing the creacking sound. What abbout power steering any visible leaks?

Thanks guys, no visible leaks of fluid of any type.

Just curious (I have an extended warranty) what does it cost to replace the front ball joints?
