Just curious what options and at what cost a severe internal motor failure was to occur. I have found an entire engine assembly from mercedes for about $56,000 and a block alone for near $10,000. How available are these motors from wrecked cars and just how expensive are they???

There is a broken engine on ebay right now...lol.

There aren't a dime a dozen but I've seen a few on sale every now and then. The also VERY RARELY break rods, just pistons which is a good thing and makes rebuilds the way to go.

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
Above is why I'm going to pull the motor next year regardless and toss in some forged pistons and just get the rebuild out of the way. I keep having visions of #8 going through the hood.

2003 E55 & 2014 GL550
Used engine guys are officially "on" to the fact that these engines are hard to find and raping us accordingly.

Starting to wonder if it would be better to try to find a used high mileage but babied parts car out there somewhere. Wonder what E55s are going for at auction nowdays.

Weird...with all the S55s, G55s, E55s and SL55s COMBINED with all the *****ty drivers there are....should be more engines from wrecks available.
