Is a mechanical breakdown warranty the same as an typical extended warranty?

Is a mechanical breakdown warranty the same as an typical extended warranty?

I found a Mercury mechanical breakdown warranty.

Is this a pretty standard one? They offer a bumper to bumper plan.

The key is in the contract and how it is worded. You have to pay attention to there max payouts per service, if they consider different components as different repairs, the deductible and how they use the deductible. Sometimes if the car needs work to the transmission, engine and suspension, that will be three different deductibles.

Carefully read the contract, these warranties can be tricky.
